If the resolution is passed it still has to be approved by FA Council - how long is that likely to take?
The efl made the decision and announced the decision the approval from the FA Council is just rubber stamping it.. I can't see any framework being rejected by the FA unless it was massively different from efl

I like the article from the daily mail although it isn't up to date I think it rules out null and void should the amended rule not pass as the argument would be from the efl no more promotion or relegation from the elf to nl - that would kill the league

Looking bleak for an early decision, too.

Dont see why.

So the upshot is now that this was an FA co*k up. Therefore we cannot lay this at the door of the NL. They clearly did what they were told and didn't think to question whether what they were being told was bollox. Not guilty by way of being stupid.

I would expect this to be reflected therefore in the NL proposal which does go out to vote against and that it should say play-offs at NLS/NLN as long as the clubs are willing to foot the bill. The NL at least have an excuse to go forward (i.e. it was the FAs idea not ours).

Funny thing is I never really saw what the FA were going to gain from this change anyway. Having play-offs at the NLS/NLN level (if they happen) may be an administrative chore but that is not an insurmountable issue. Feels like a storm being generated in a teacup or the FA trying to make itself look important.

As far as Deadly Dave is concerned, he will be sat in his bunker incandescent like Adolf after being told the Russians were entering Berlin. If it comes to it we'll see if he makes good on his threats of Legal action. He wont spend a penny unless he's sure he'll win though. We'll hear a few words nevertheless because they cost nothing.

To be fair to him, if you watch his video from Thursday he admits that prior to the meeting he thought his numbers were up in regard staying up and that he was shocked when the proposal was spoke about which would keep them up.
Even says that there will be twists and turns and it is still democratic which is what he asked for

This entire process has utterly destroyed the reputation of the NL Board which it has to be said looked pretty flimsy in the first place. Non of its member clubs can really have any confidence in its ability to act impartially and exclusively on their behalf.
Who are they anyway.
"To achieve anything and to get to the Football League, we have to expect to win every game. I've got to get everyone believing that we can, and I will work hard to embed that mentality into the players, the town, the board and whoever else” Ian Evatt.

Have never discounted him in terms of his business instincts or his ability to think creatively Adam. His development of Mill Farm is a model for us all.

But even his friends would probably tell you that he can be a very difficult man to like. Doesn't like losing and doesn't deal with compromise or contradiction very well.

You say 'cock up' - it seems the FA just straight up lied about receiving government instructions to scrap play-offs.

That is the first time l have seen the words ‘Champions Barrow’ in print - even if it was in the DM. Feeling a bit queasy now if not bilious.

I'm not sure who said what to whom. Based on what the National League themselves have reported, Step 2 play-off teams received an email on the evening of 10th June from the National League "suggesting" that play-offs at Step 2 could not take place under Government advice as that level was not considered "elite" sport.

Since they were joined by the FA the following morning you may surmise that the FA was at the very least complicit (if that is the right term) in that view if not instrumental in defining it. However from the reaction of the DCMS today it is also unclear (to me at least) as to whether they were ever directly asked by the FA/NL about this or whether the latter had merely interpreted it from its reading of the HMG guidelines.

It should also be remembered that one of the teams that received this email - York City - have maintained a full-time squad who all make their living playing football and that therefore any definition of the word "elite" that was tied to whether a player earned their living from football would probably be met by York City's squad. So equating an "elite" status not with the standard of football but with a players ability to earn a living was never sustainable in Yorks case.

I'm not sure if anybody has lied. But someone has been really stupid.

I was impressed listening to the Havant director who spoke on the Kings Lynn chairman's podcast. It appears he has been instrumental in getting the rapid clarification from the government re the elite/non-elite argument, by lobbying his and other MPs to chase it up.

I dunno - Ollie Bayliss said the playoffs were scrapped on "government advice". He hasn't got a lot wrong lately.

The FA based the government’s guidelines to elite sport to mean that Part time teams don’t come under the elite sport category so made the decision based on that
