By the way, not that its relevant but in my opinion the story put about regarding Darren Moore being an alternative to Evatt is probably also a fake story. Nobody around Doncaster Rovers seems to have taken that story seriously. I think it was invented to give an edge to the Evatt story. My guess is that Bolton dont have too many alternative options other than an internal appointment or a reasonably priced unemployed manager.

I agree Adam. I suspect Bolton thought that because Barrow were a NL club last season they would be able to get Ian Evatt on the cheap and have found out they can't afford him. I would say they have even less chance of getting managers from the likes of Plymouth, Swindon and Doncaster and, like you, I believe if they give up on Ian Evatt they will go for one of the managers not currently employed. It would seem that they are pretty skint when they have released all but 5 of their senior professionals and, although, they say they want to offer some new contracts, it seems a very strange way to act.

Simple its about selling Labour and I do not think he will want to tarnish brand Evatt although I was worried when he said he was a Man Utd supporter and admired Ferguson other PLCs are available,

Let him walk away and a Tribunal will set the fee plus this early on in his career it looks bad.

He has delivered but then when he was booted out at Chesterfield we gave him the chance and this Board has as he said in his own words given him everything he asked for.

Yep, the tone is shifting here, lets have a decision on this. We have a season to prepare for.

Dead right. Bolton are the club that needs saving. We do not.

However we should not be too hard on IE however this turns out. He's done absolutely nothing to interfere with or force the hand of the board thus far. He's playing the whole thing with a very straight bat. And you cant really judge someone by what they dont say in this situation.

Unfortunately for many, because of what he's helped achieve at the club he has assumed the status of superhero or legend in many peoples eyes. A few may now be realising that evaluation was a little excessive. He is just a damn good manager with a lot of potential who is intent on fulfilling it as he sees fit - which we probably all have aspired to in our time. I would only caveat that by suggesting that his choice of suitors in Fylde and Bolton are both less than convincing in different ways. There is part of me that wonders about his judgement but that may just be me.

This clearly cant go on for much longer. If the impasse is the compensation then I cant see the BAFC board shifting its position. Bolton need to put up or pull out.

Indeed. Neither club is a great choice and he will be able to do much better if has a decent season with us. Of course, if he doesn't then his stock will fall. He is, in fact, acting just as every manager and every player would do in his situation.

At the time the sainted Bolton 12 goal legend Coyle said they were 10 years ahead of Burnley and indeed after all the upheaval with Bolton taking their manager mid season, Bolton stayed up and Burnley went down. But a happy ending was to come for all but the deluded big timers at Horwich, Coyle took them down a couple of years later and in the immortal words of Status quo it has been down, down deeper and down for the 'mighty' whites. Indeed, they really shouldn't actually exist anymore but unlike Bury everyone bent over backwards to keep the titans from Horwich in the league. So where are we now, ten years on from the goliaths at Bolton taking Owen Coyle? Well, Coyle's in India after relegating half of Lancashire, Burnley are 11th in the Premier League after 5 successful seasons, they've even been in Europe!, and the titans from Greater Manchester are now preparing to land with a huge bump in league 2, potless and with only their dreams of better days to comfort them at night. Now they've turned their attention to Barrow and their fans are rattling on about how big and famous they are, such a big draw, who could possibly turn down the biggest club in errr Horwich? Evatt may go but the grass is not always a brighter shade of green near Manchester and Barrow will be paid handsomely for his services. If he does go, he's done well for Barrow, taken them back where they belong, he might get paid more at Bolton but he'll always be looking over his shoulder and remember, only one of Barrow and Bolton are on the up and it's not W***y Wanderers.

With regard to the compensation for managers in general - I have always wondered why clubs are reluctant to pay high prices for Managers but then will pay huge sums for players (even at league 2 level) that the manager advises them to buy and tells them how to play.

Seems to me that the manager should be as important as the players and that fees for good ones are worth paying.
