Re: David Dunn
15%/ 2 wins. Time to go
Re: David Dunn
I fully understand we are obliged to fulfil a contract. I am asking why do people believe he is good enough?Il Metronomo wrote: ↑Tue Nov 24, 2020 10:21 pmThat record isn't good enough.
However he has over a year-and-a-half left on his contract and that would need to be paid up if the contract was terminated (to the best of my knowledge... there may be a clause that we are not aware of). So if he's on ~£1,500.00 per week, that would mean paying ~£125,000.00 in compensation. It's a lot of money and the manager who replaced him wouldn't work for free.

Re: David Dunn
I think the board will think its worth sticking with dunn as they will think as long as we avoid the bottom 2 then then its job done this season plus the payout of 150k assuming dunns on around 2k a week is high which is an expense the board could do without but even with dunn in charge and the team we have im still sure there's 2 clubs worse than us no one has hammered us we have only lost by 1 goal all the games we have lost were not that far away really we just need a bit more luck and maybe a couple of new faces if possible

Re: David Dunn
Said from the start and my opinion hasn’t changed, the board went for a name and should have gone for experience. Let’s hope we do that “just enough” to stay up if we aren’t going to get rid because we’ve waited a hell of a long time for this to just put up with him because we can’t afford it. If that’s the only reason we are keeping him then god help us
everyone is entitled to their opinion, deal with it

Re: David Dunn
Did everyone think evatt was good enough at the start of his first season???
I agree it's not a great start but with injuries and suspensions and most of the squad playing league football for the first time. I don't think we have been able to field our strongest team yet this season. I agree the mistakes are killing us, although they are similar to mistakes we have made in the national League but in league two we get punished more regularly. Dunn is still learning, I wasn't and still aren't convinced he was the right man for the job. However we are stuck with him for a while, no money to change manager in this current climate, so I for one will support him and the team. We are all entitled to voice our opinions on here but to much negativity for my liking. We all want the same thing don't we? Surely results will improve once fan's are back inside HS. If we take all this negative doom and gloom into the stands that's not going to help us much is it?

Re: David Dunn
A lot of hot air on here tonight, as is to be expected after a defeat!
Just think back to the universal praise that was being dished out after the Cambridge and Mansfield performances. One below par performance in the midst of a busy schedule doesn’t equate to a poor team. On a positive note we still scored three goals. Cut out some of the errors and there’s no doubt we will win more games than we’ll lose in this league.
For those saying they think Dunn needs to go - no chance! For a start we couldn’t afford to sack him with 18 months left on his contract and limited revenue coming into the club.
For those saying we need a more experienced manager look at the exceptional coaching CV of Rob Kelly. Dunn couldn’t have a better assistant at this level.
The team hasn’t played particularly badly so far this season - other than for spells in the Newport and Carlisle games and the last 15 minutes of the first half tonight, when we dropped too deep and couldn’t keep possession. In fact, in many matches we have been dominant and been widely praised for the way we play. Integrating new recruits into a possession-based football philosophy doesn’t happen overnight, but generally the team is improving.
Our team has been inconsistent, but the quality is clearly there. There are clearly issues with a few too many individual defensive mistakes and lately marking off corners, but those issues can be coached out.
Getting Hardcastle and James Jones back will also settle things down.
Evatt has had the same problems at Bolton, with a similar philosophy, but they are now starting to climb the table. There is no reason why we can’t do the same with the current squad and management team.
Finally for those saying we need to change the system, don’t forget which system got us into into the EFL in the first place, although it is clearly useful to have a ‘plan b’ to use in games when ‘plan a’ isn’t working.
Giving away free-kicks in dangerous positions, conceding goals from set pieces through poor marking, playing dodgy back-passes and giving away soft penalties all have nothing to do with the system we are playing!
Keep the faith...

Re: David Dunn
As long as we stay up we can begin to establish ourselves in league 2 and build season upon season and in a few years time we could be pushing to get out this league.I just don't see where the money would come from to sack dunn I agree he has a poor record but look at our defeats all by 1 goal were not that far away,we must be struggling without the lost gate revenue.

Re: David Dunn
All well and good people saying its the same formation/system we got promoted with, however the desire, intensity, the passing, the pressing, the tracking back, the winning the ball back and the fitness isn't the same.
Re: David Dunn
Apart from tonight which was our worse performance of the season in my opinion we have competed our biggest issue has been individual brain farts from players costing us wins which im not sure how is Dunns fault. Tonight we didn't look at it we need Hardcastle back ASAP Taylor looked tired from the off

Firstly I said from the start it was a bad appointment.Il Metronomo wrote: ↑Tue Nov 24, 2020 10:21 pmThat record isn't good enough.

We appointed a Manager who is financially secure unlike Evatt whom I did not like as a person ,but as my Dad used to say a hungry boxer fights harder.
I do not know the difference in income between the National League and EFL but imagine the EFL will bring with it a lot more money.
My question is can we afford to keep him if it means the loss of our league status?
Yes he has a contract but with that should come targets and penalties for missing them.
Unfair dismissal claims normally come after 2 years of employment .
I am not privy to the terms and conditions of his contract but I hope our Chairman would have put targets etc in it.
Re: David Dunn
Opinions are fine, the cold truth is harder to swallow. Yes it will cost the club money it can I’ll afford to get rid of nice guy David Dunn and recruit a more experienced manager, but is relegation really an option, as the impact and cost to the club is enormous. Hoping that there are two clubs worse than us come the end of season is pathetic. Time to be brave board admit that this is an area that has’nt come to fruition and take a brave step forward on the managerial front.
Re: David Dunn
Formations etc get overstated sometimes, seems to me that our main problem is soft goals Conceded which Aren’t down to tactics but down to lack of organisation from set plays (down to the manager and players) and individual errors (down to the players)
Until Dunn addresses the defensive issue we will struggle. We seem to be firing more at the other end now and hopefully Quigley can go on a run now he has his first goal. You can’t keep conceding like we do though and expect to win games.
James Jones Is a miss I think he and Platt with Brough will make a good defence but all are quite young and I’m not sure Dunn can coach that side of the game into them And the rest of the team;. Organisation, defending And taking responsibility.
It was one of Paul Coxs strengths, defensively we were a real unit and were clever, could manage games and get results without playing particularly well. Something we really need to do right now. Even playing well we don’t win so when we’re poor...
I don’t think anyone was convinced by Dunn and I said 10 games would be the time to judge...still not convinced. If we go out of the FA cup and there’s no real improvement by Christmas then I’d be worried. Injuries haven’t helped him but you can only run that excuse for so long...
