Ultimately, if results don't improve very quickly then yes it is.
I'm not saying we are there yet, but we're edging closer with each passing "unlucky" result.
Ah yes Paul Cox who gave us the best days out we’d had in years and the winning feeling. Unbeaten in what was it 26/27 games or our highest finish in the national league at that point and a trip to Bristol rovers? But it’s okay as that doesn’t matter as he played a different way and got results but he didn’t play it on the floor and get beat every weekbamber678 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 09, 2020 11:11 amSo sacking Dunn is the only option we have? If we were being dominated and playing terrible tactics like the long ball over the top like cox used to? If you didn’t know Paul cox was our manager a few years ago who’s only tactic was the long ball over the top, you probably didn’t know barrow had a football team before evatt came in.LewisBAFC1901 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 08, 2020 10:20 pm
Let’s give him another 16 and see where we are. We haven’t had back luck for 14 games. Unbelievable but we’ll see. It’ll be Weymouth or Wigan next year.
It’s heading in the right direction, cut out the mistakes and we won’t be dropping points. It’s down to the players to realise that they shouldn’t have done X,Y and Z. It’s down to Dunn to coach it out of them but ultimately he can’t control Kay diving in and getting booked or brown diving in and giving away a dangerous free kick, or Hird doing unnecessary pass backs that put Dixon under pressure. Individual mistakes are costing us these games you can’t deny thatLewisBAFC1901 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 09, 2020 11:49 amAh yes Paul Cox who gave us the best days out we’d had in years and the winning feeling. I can't say I was a fan of the type of football played by the Cox team but we were pretty successful. However, unlike some, I haven't been impressed by the football played by the Dunn team this season and it's a long way from that played by the Evatt team last season. Instead of pressing quickly to win the ball and moving forward quickly when in possession with midfield players who could beat opposition players we now struggle to get possession and move forward very slowly generally passing the ball sideways with nobody able to run with the ball from midfield. The only similarity between last season and this season is that we are still passing the ball on the floor instead of hitting in long in the air but the speed with which we do it is hugely different.bamber678 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 09, 2020 11:11 amSo sacking Dunn is the only option we have? I agree that we have played more long balls in the last few matches but we still aren't in the same league for that tactic as the Cox team for long balls when almost every goal kick was aimed to the head of Liam Hughes on the touchline and lots of long balls hit for Richie Bennett to try and head on to Byron Harrison.
Last time I checked the vote on here (only 85 cast) 54% in and 46% voted out. I would hardly call that most, nor is it a good enough sample.
Maybe you should be teaching them about how a majority vote works then your job might be safeArabian Bluebird wrote: ↑Thu Dec 10, 2020 5:25 amLast time I checked the vote on here (only 85 cast) 54% in and 46% voted out. I would hardly call that most, nor is it a good enough sample.
Tell you what if 46% of my classes parents wanted me gone, I wouldn't have much longer there.
You are right that our build up is often too slow. Angus has pace, but often lacks touch and control. Kay has pace but blows hot and cold. Reid is probably quite quick too.HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Thu Dec 10, 2020 9:24 am The main difference in the football this year compared to under Evatt is that it’s much slower. Yes we still keep the ball well at times but players are either keeping hold of it themselves for too long or are too slow picking their pass. There isn’t much use of quick one/two touch passing anymore or balls in behind which is how you catch defences out.
Ask defenders what the one thing they hate is and it’s genuine pace, do we have any?
Also when it’s passed, the pace on the ball is slow. It doesn’t zip fast enough.Jim wrote: ↑Thu Dec 10, 2020 9:34 amYou are right that our build up is often too slow. Quite a few of the players are used to playing the quick moving, short passing, fluid, one touch football from last season. That means we would attack with speed, though not necessarily individual pace.
