New manager - Who do you want?

Firstly, why not Sol Campbell? He worked a minor miracle at Macclesfield the other season in keeping them up. I know for a fact he fully supported that team and scrapped his way to league security on the final day of the season. We need to get tough and scrap it out now.

However, I digress. Whoever is appointed it is the most important appointment for a long as I can remember as our football league status is at stake. The BOD cannot afford to make back to back poor appointments. I really hope they get it right.

Bradford will be in the hunt for a manager so im wondering if the BOD had a target and acted quicker than they were planning on because of this ?
If a manager is out of work he ain't getting paid and if he wants a job then negotiate a wage both parties are happy with. Could always insert a Evett type release clause if he wants to go elsewhere. Just need someone who has the experience and hopefully gets the team playing better and we start getting the points.

I thought the same - I think if Bradford hadn't sacked McCall today Dunn would have been here until the end of the month - the fact that they are probably looking at the same management pool probably sped the process up somewhat.

No problem with that and you both explain your reasons clearly and succinctly.

So what qualities do we need to see in our new manager? My views, for what its worth, experience in the EFL, resilience, a certain amount of adaptability (tactically) and very importantly toughness (we have conceded far too many late goals costing us points and not been forceful enough when chasing a game - Cambridge is the only match we have scored late to secure a point). Good communication skills with the fanbase would also be a plus.

I can’t see us matching whatever Salford are paying Alexander (unless they paid him off but I doubt it). McCall is a bit of a clown. Cowley is unfortunately out of our league.

Would take a Pennock type to get us through to May above the drop zone. Re build in summer.

We should be looking for exactly what we *should* have been looking for in the summer i.e. someone who has experience of managing in the lower leagues with the occasional promotion or play-off run on their CV. Artistic impression is irrelevant. We need to stay up - that's the only target between now and May.

Alexander wouldn't be cheap but worth paying compared to the cost of relegation...not sure how it stands with him being paid still by Salford and taking other jobs. Didn't we have that that problem with Edmondson and Moore who were on long contracts still being paid.

Paul Cook would be great but probably a bit out of our range, Paul Hurst probably more likely but who knows who else might apply.

Good luck to David Dunn he had a secure job at Blackpool but wanted to test himself as a manager again here. I don't think anyone was really sure of his appointment and it's not worked out but he always came across as a decent person.

Alexander is currently on Job Seekers allowance Salford binned him about a month ago.

We will also be a bit limited for choice re our location even though we training elsewhere.Some people may not want too much travelling and we have since Evatt left slipped back into the little old barrow mentality to some people.Someone experienced still good contacts whose only essential target is keep us in this league.We are not in a position to insist on pretty football just effective grinding out results stuff.Even if we have to suffer some up in the air style direct football if gets results I take it this season.What about those signed not played yet like Courtney what’s is name think they deserve chance before rejection.If too many replaced to soon could be more disruptive and while they settle in.Stay up at all costs and tweak the style next season.

Rubbish we train in a prime location thats easy to get to , full stop overs before games ect absolute nonsense. No players will leave till the end off the season. Id laugh like if richards hardcastle and jones come back in then we play better football but its a wait and see.

Unbelievable. The board was panned for appointing David Dunn without seeing who was out there yet now it should have someone lined up to take charge immediately without seeing who else might be out there.

Weeks? No, I don't. Looking whose out there and having someone lined up are two different things, anyway.

Seems to me that we need someone who will do enough to keep us up this season. It's that simple now it's nearly 1/3 done. If that is achieved then the board who appoint him be revered, as well as him, whoever he is. If we go down, then as ever e.g. Pedro will have his miserable retrospective field day. A couple of things to look forward to - 1) How the new manager deals in every way with the current squad. Perhaps we will see if some/all/any are any good for this league. 2)Who he brings in in the transfer window (type of player) 3) The style of play - we were spoiled last season. Will we be going back to days of "get the bloody thing forward" and/or "get it in the box"? Worrying times for now. Never an easy ride supporting Barrow.

We are little old Barrow but that's not a bad thing,look at all the big clubs,Chesterfield ,Notts County and Wrexham what league are they in?
Little old Barrow has had some memorable victories FA Trophy it's playing to our strengths.
Remember December 2007 in relegation zone in Blue Square North and we went on to play 20 games without defeat and win the play offs by beating Stalybridge.
It's about organisations and a little luck.
