Re: Southend United FC v Barrow AFC
Stats don’t lie,Beadling no assists and no goals,Chris Taylor excluding Bolton game no goals and one assist feel like a contract extension was a reward for failure, yes he has experience but never showed it yesterday, the wing backs offensively have the problem that the ball comes out to them so slowly that Southend could double bank Kay even with 10 men the midfield never gets near the front two to support them and you never see a midfielder going past the front two so unless we get legs and faster passing back then we are heading for the national league, might suggest that Jolley watches a few videos of last season where he would see the difference of hard working and pressing high up the pitch with getting the ball out wide quicker as contrast to yesterday. The current team wouldn’t be capable of getting in the top half of the national league playing like that

The difference might be that they now know Jolley has made up his mind on them and with the suggestion that 4/5 new players might be coming in some might feel their days are numbered.Jim wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 8:22 am I think the worrying thing for me, listening to commentary and reading comments on here, was that they did not show the intensity and desire that we saw only 2 or 3 weeks ago. If they can't do that for a new manager, something is wrong. Against Cheltenham, for example, they seemed to be getting the ball forward more quickly and they scrapped for everything.
Don't let the old man in.

surely you'd want to prove yourself to a new manager?MisterPleasant wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 12:23 pmThe difference might be that they now know Jolley has made up his mind on them and with the suggestion that 4/5 new players might be coming in some might feel their days are numbered.Jim wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 8:22 am I think the worrying thing for me, listening to commentary and reading comments on here, was that they did not show the intensity and desire that we saw only 2 or 3 weeks ago. Doesn't bode well when Matt Platt seems player most likely to score.
Re: Southend United FC v Barrow AFC
I can fully understand why Jolley kept faith with the shape and line up for this game after recent results, but he will have seen from yesterday that he is going to have to find another way. Every single team we come up against has two hard working strikers who will close down our 18 yard line tippy tappy stuff and look to force us into mistakes, and lets be honest, it is effective against us. Southend from the kick off the latest team to do this.
"To achieve anything and to get to the Football League, we have to expect to win every game. I've got to get everyone believing that we can, and I will work hard to embed that mentality into the players, the town, the board and whoever else” Ian Evatt.

It’s probably time we went either 4-4-2 or 4-3-3; the back 5 isn’t really making us any more defensively sound than a back 4 would so one of the centre backs is effectively just wasting an attacking position. Problem then though is we have no wingers (bar Josh Kay debatably)

Re: Southend United FC v Barrow AFC
Blue nige suggested that my separate thread about rebuilding the team should be taken down and it was.I was suggesting that we need stronger players in the centre and that the team needs to start playing more like Crawley did today.
This is supposed to be an open forum which obviously it is not.I have seen a lot worse comments than mine on this very forum which have been allowed to remain. You seemed to object to the fact that I said that the team should be playing more like they did last season which everyone has been saying for quite a while.Since Rooney went we haven't been the same team and definitely need somebody of that ilk as a replacement. I have been following this team since the early 1960s and was annoyed when they were voted out of the football league. I do not want this readmittance to the football league to be squandered, that is why I put my comment as a separate post so it would be noticed, which it obviously was.I am a season ticket holder who wants to go on watching Barrow move forward in this league and not lose their hard earned promotion after nearly 50 years in the wilderness.

also I'm a season ticket holder and have supported them since the sixties but does that make you and me special? no.
