Point taken Adam, although it is longer than 5 years when some on the list first made their Barrow debuts on loan from their parent clubs.Adam29 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 2:41 amThe post also said over the last 5 yearssaltcellar wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 11:42 pm
I thought the post was about how players played when on loan to Barrow.
Grant Holt did well during his loan spell.
Grant Holts loan spell was a lot longer than 5 years ago

Re: January Transfer window
Ok so without putting any more negativity out there is anyone else getting more than a little concerned that we don’t appear to have brought anyone in yet? What happened to the guy PH spoke about at the weekend who was ‘pretty much done’ and ‘possibly him and another one before the scun Thorpe game’’?
Must admit I am a bit worried that we don’t appear to have ‘flexed our muscles’ yet when others around us clearly have.

What do you expect when you get beat by bottom of the league and how we look position wise in the league table at present it looks like how do you fancy coming playing league football for 4 months not good.blue blue boy wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 11:44 am Ok so without putting any more negativity out there is anyone else getting more than a little concerned that we don’t appear to have brought anyone in yet? We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
Re: January Transfer window
For me, being beaten by the bottom team isn't a discriminatory factor, its part of the fabric of a league structure. So while I don't agree with the way you phrased your comments, I certainly know what you are driving at.PerthBluebird wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 11:54 amWhat do you expect when you get beat by bottom of the league and how we look position wise in the league table at present it looks like how do you fancy coming playing league football for 4 months not good.blue blue boy wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 11:44 am Ok so without putting any more negativity out there is anyone else getting more than a little concerned that we don’t appear to have brought anyone in yet? For what its worth-I think one or two of us have rather to much expectation, myself included, of knights in shining armour coming to our rescue.
In other words, I am beginning to think that 'Jonty got it spot on when he said in a previous post, "Improving our tactical discipline and game management all over the pitch with the current squad will improve things more than any new players coming in."-Think what Mr Jolley did at GT.

Re: January Transfer window
...Southend's goalscorer being a debutant loanee. Bottom of the table didn't seem to stop him wanting to play for them, why should it affect a player coming to us?PerthBluebird wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 11:54 amWhat do you expect when you get beat by bottom of the league and how we look position wise in the league table at present it looks like how do you fancy coming playing league football for 4 months not good.blue blue boy wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 11:44 am Ok so without putting any more negativity out there is anyone else getting more than a little concerned that we don’t appear to have brought anyone in yet? Wonder if Brad Barry, Mike Jones or Baker Richardson are anywhere near. Any of those would be a boost to the squad
Re: January Transfer window
Tyler Smith was a real impact player during his time with us! Fantastic record at development squad level but was relatively unproven, need this sort of calibre player bringing in!
Brad Barry back in light training I believe!

Re: January Transfer window
True. He wasn't great when he came back but I put him in the list on the basis of his performances when he first came which were good although I made a mistake in thinking he was on loan then also. However, without splitting hairs, the point of the post was that we have had some very good loans over the last few years and that in our current situation I would fancy our chances of picking up more good players on loans from higher clubs than I would from signing "proven" EFL2 players who only were "proven" in their younger years!Adam29 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 3:54 pmDan Jones wasn’t a loan signing when he was with us - he was our playerrussell_anderson wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 2:53 pm We have plenty of very good loan signings over the last 5 years as well of plenty of duds!
I would class all of the following as excellent players who we brought in on loan and I'm sure there are several good ones I've missed:-
Matt Platt
Lewis Hardcastle
Tom White
Dan Jones
Rhys Norrington-Davies
Tyler Smith
Jimmy Dunne
Tim Erlandsson
Nick Anderton
Ryan Yates
George Williams
Yes he came back on loan towards the end of last season but I wouldn’t exactly class him as an inspirational loan signing as he only played a couple of games before the season was curtailed

I hope that when he is fit, Baker-Richardson lives up to the expectations some people have of him, and that he doesn’t turn out to be another of Dunn’s duds. His record to date doesn’t exactly fill me with confidence in his ability.

Re: January Transfer window
seems strange that no names are being put up on here as possible signings, normally theres a few people in the know who like to put it out there, starting to think the board are keeping it to themselves this time. we were more or less promised a signing at start of week but heh i guess that one must have fallen through and hes decided to go with the other lot of players to harrogate, is that five that they have recruited ?

Barry seems to disappear a number of times a season injured. Must pick them up in training as I don't recall him ever being stretchered off a lot.HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 12:45 pm Wonder if Brad Barry, Mike Jones or Baker Richardson are anywhere near.
