Re: Furloughing players
Well said Liverpoolann league football/ footballers at this level is ruthless it's dog eat dog ,look what Evatt did to us after making statements about the fans etc he and Rooney still left us ,as would most of them there's no loyalty nowadays (which I personally think is sad) so our directors have had their fingers burnt there, so I'm so glad the people in charge are making sure that at least we're making an effort to stay in this league, if people feel that strongly you need to realise it's a totally different ballgame now !

Re: Furloughing players
how can he be working if he's not being paid by them ?HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 7:10 pmIf a player is “maintaining his fitness with another club” he is working. Shouldn’t be working whilst on furloughCubbins Paratrooper wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 6:56 pm Individual players who accept the furlough scheme offer would seemingly be allowed to strike up their own arrangements to maintain fitness, possibly with clubs closer to their home, thus giving them the best chance of finding a new club in due course whilst at the same time, receiving full financial support during the period their respective contracts, or at least until the furlough scheme ends, currently earmarked for April 30th.
does that mean people who say are working at BAE cannot keep themselves fit while being furloughed or say volunteer at Holker Street arevthey then working for Barrow afc?

There’s a bit of a difference between someone at BAE lifting a few weights at home and a footballer training with a football club

Wow, there's a lot of hot air around here tonight. Fortunately, we have @liverpoolann and @Cubbins Paratrooper to give a bit of perspective.
Tax avoidance, also, isn't a 'good look' for many organisations but it's legal and customers keep going back. Who's used Amazon or Google or Facebook or Netflix or Apple or Microsoft in the past few months?
Or we could 'morally and ethically' make our way back to the National League.

if they are not playing football for that club and only keeping fit there's no difference stop trying to point score and stick to facts.HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 7:19 pm There’s a bit of a difference between someone at BAE lifting a few weights at home and a footballer training with a football club

Re: Furloughing players
Very disappointed and not a good look.
I would rather be in the national league and be proud of the way my club conducts itself rather than be in the football league and be ashamed of the club using a pandemic to cut losses having just spent a fortune on new players.
Had the players not been signed, and the club not decided to increase the playing budget itself then I could understand this decision.
The trusts argument that the club 'would' have had offers for these players in 'normal times' is weak. The club knew the context and circumstances when they signed all these new players. They knew it would be near impossible to ship out players.

Re: Furloughing players
So if someone's furloughed from BAE they should be able to volunteer down at Kimberly Clark?blue nige wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 7:25 pmif they are not playing football for that club and only keeping fit there's no difference stop trying to point score and stick to facts.HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 7:19 pm There’s a bit of a difference between someone at BAE lifting a few weights at home and a footballer training with a football club

Tax evasion is definitely not legal.MisterPleasant wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 7:25 pm Wow, there's a lot of hot air around here tonight. Fortunately, we have @liverpoolann and @Cubbins Paratrooper to give a bit of perspective.

It's not tax evasion, it's legal creative accountancy, it happens every day in every business.

You're absolutely right, I've amended it to 'avoidance'.Il Metronomo wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 7:40 pmTax evasion is definitely not legal.MisterPleasant wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 7:25 pm Wow, there's a lot of hot air around here tonight. Re: Furloughing players
No it’s not tax evasion.
It’s worse as it’s not avoiding paying tax it is actually claiming money from a pot that is there to help businesses that are struggling to operate normally in the current restrictions.
Yes all companies and some individuals work the tax rules to their benefit on an annual basis and most pay their advisers handsomely to do this but we are not talking about the same thing here.
Re: Furloughing players
Meanwhile back in the real world firstly thousands of businesses are making false claims including those where staff are still working and for those waving the flag this coming out of my taxes need to realise it isn't because it's all borrowed money
