I also feel sorry for Quigley as the service he’s getting is very poor, this team isn’t set up to play to his strengths.

I’ve seen nothing so far to show we’ve improved under MJ, the additions he’s been allowed to make (under the dubious use of furlough) are looking no better than what we had under DD. I honestly believe that with the additions of Eardly, Devitt and one decent striker we would have stood a better chance of staying up than with what we have now.
I agree with all of the above. MJ has been allowed to rip the heart out of the squad and the players that gave 100% and played with passion such as Connor Brown and Jason Taylor to name just 2 have been discarded. For those old enough its like Norman Bodell all over again. We all know how badly that ended.
I cannot help thinking the board have fallen into the trap of appointing someone who knows how to handle himself at interviews and uses all the right soundbites and words he knows his interviewers will want to hear. He has never played the game at the highest level and he holds a post graduate diploma in sports coaching that opened doors for him to coach at various clubs. Hardly a startling football CV IMO. Before that he worked in finance in New York.
We were not a million miles away when Jolly came in and as has been said Eardly, Devitt and a goalscorer would have given us a better chance than we have now.
The service to Quigley is awful. He is not a target man. He cannot head a ball. He needs the ball played from midfield into his feet. Hoof ball makes him look a bad player which he is not.
We are not built as a side to pay hoof ball. Get back to 3-5-2 Barry and Kay as wingbacks.

In a way I think this as been a worse appointment than dunn, at least dunn had played at the highest level, moral with some players must be low having been discarded in a instant

I don't buy these comments that we are shutting teams out, or they don't look better than us. They don't need to be better than average, we gift goals away via mistakes and we have that little attacking threat all teams need to do is keep hold of the ball and we'd have no chance of getting back in the game.
Popular side since '03.

the thing with Taylor, Brown and Hird is that all or most of them were with us this season because they triggered clauses in their contracts to get another one by playing enough games - otherwise they probably wouldn't have been here this season - it's quite possible they had similar clauses this year - which means they would have been here next year and struggled even more than this season.
The positives from yesterday - we looked solid at the back (apart from the error for the goal), Goodridge looked very promising when he came on - he always looked to go forward, but also tracked back and put tackles in - which was the weakest part of Biggins game. Brad Barry getting 80+ minutes was also a plus.
Lancashire;- born and bred

Are the furloughed players still training with the club?

If theres one thing big defenders dont like it's being turned, that's how we scored the majority of goals under DD, threaded balls through for Quiggs to run onto, goals were not a problem. It's no coincidence since we changed to the big lump up field the goals have dried up. On a positive, looking forward to seeing Devitt and Goodridge in midfield we may see a bit more football then.

No official statement on who has been furloughed or what their training arrangements are has been forthcoming from the club. Neither has the 22 man squad that has to be submitted to the EFL following the closure of the January transfer window.

We just can’t stop making mistakes, don’t have enough that seem to have a battle in them and can’t buy a goal at the minute! 🥺
Yes we have been in worse situations and turned it around, but even with my optimism the ultimate dream of the return to the promised land and sustainability is keeping me awake at night all far too often of late!

"We don’t have enough that seem to have a battle in them".
For me, this hits the nail bang on the head.

Well we now know Barry and Ntlhe are definitely in the 22 man squad.

That means up to two more from Jason Taylor, Hird, Brown, Mike Jones, Zouma and Gribbin could be in. Unless of course they have all been offered furlough and told to stay away.

Sea, Wilson and Moloney don't need to be registered but haven't featured so it's possible that they have been offered furlough too.

people saying we looked sold at the back but then add about giving a goal away 🤣.

we have a massive problem now ,

we've player's who know that if / when we go down that they won't be here next season (same for the manager) so let's all be honest what sort of mindset will they be in ?

Reality is Evatt leaving/Dunn's appointment have had a devastating effect on things unfortunately I knew deep down that this would f**k this season up .
I'm not kidding myself that we're going to get out of the total mess we are in now so as a club we should be looking at managers player's for life in the National league nobody on here can hand on heart believe that we can turn this around for a start most of our "new " recruits haven't been playing competively for months so by the time they're match fit / injury free it'll be too late.
before anyone slates me off I'm absolutely devastated by the last few months the board ( I know they made a monumental mistake in Dunn) and us the fans deserve much better than this infact deep down I wished last season hadn't happened , I've been lucky at least to have watched a few live games and I'm gutted for the people who've missed out.
if we still have this board and keep the fans on board if it's the National league then bring it on we'll just have to do it again but without ppg ! :scarf:

He has never played the game at the highest level...
David Dunn had. And Brian Kidd. And Bodell. Roy Hodgson hasn't. It's not really a criterion to go by.

I only listened to the radio commentary...zzzzzzz... but even from that it was plain to tell we were a toothless up front. I don't know whether the rumours about Cook were true but for the way we're playing someone like him would have been a good acquisition. As someone numerically illustrated earlier, the fact we're highest scorers of the bottom six means nothing right now. Seven of those goals came against a leaky Bolton and deflated Mansfield some time ago. That's not going to happen again.
Let's see how we go on Saturday, hopefully with a returning Devitt, but another nil-pointer and I will start to worry.
Don't let the old man in.

Southend nicked a goal against us and then held out for the points, Salford were gifted one last night and closed us out. Once we can nick the first goal, perhaps we can start doing what they have done. I think there may be the calmness in defence to do so. I just don't know how we are going to get the first goal!

Jim we're all saying the same thing but I look at our forwards and there's not much there !
