Re: Safe
Apologies if this has been identified elsewhere, but after last night's results it's dead simple now.
1 point or more from our remaining 4 fixtures and we stay up, irrespective of what happens to Southend or Grimsby.
Grimsby and/or Southend relegated if they don't win their remaining fixtures, irrespective of what we do.

Re: Safe
Was thinking Barrow,Grimsby & Southend should just breakaway and form some kind of a super league.

Just say no to VAR

If we only win one more point Grimsby can catch us by winning all four remaining games.Hitthebar22 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 21, 2021 10:52 am 1 point or more from our remaining 4 fixtures and we stay up, irrespective of what happens to Southend or Grimsby.

Re: Safe
Seems a lot of people are forgetting why Southend and Grimsby, like Barrow, are where they are!
Re: Safe
Grimsby have the run-in from hell:
Oldham (A) - Revitalised side scoring for fun
Port Vale (H) - Probably the form team outside the Premiership
Exeter (A) - Vying for the play-offs
Cambridge (A) - Currently top of the the league
If we had their fixtures folk on here would be saying we'd get 0 points.

Re: Safe
And Southend have scored 3 goals in the last 13 games and their starting line up yesterday had scored a combined total of 8 goals for the season between them.
If we were in the position either of those were in people on here would rightly so be declaring us down. Yet it’s the opposite - people on here seem to think that they’ll magically go on a 3 - 4 game winning run and relegate us instead

Plus they had midfielder Dimitreu sent off last night-out for the season- and the local media called their display in a must-win derby as pitiful.Adam29 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 21, 2021 12:25 pm And Southend have scored 3 goals in the last 13 games and their starting line up yesterday had scored a combined total of 8 goals for the season between them.

Always expect the worst but hope for the best outcome!
It’s the only consistent philosophy I have found taken by many supporters of Barrow AFC in my time watching.

We are huge favouites to stay up but it could still get very nervous if Southend happen to beat Orient!Adam29 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 21, 2021 12:25 pm And Southend have scored 3 goals in the last 13 games and their starting line up yesterday had scored a combined total of 8 goals for the season between them.

Even if we get 0 points from our last 4 matches then Southend have to win all of their 3 matches to finish above us and Grimsby need to win 3 and draw 1 of their last 4.
Looking at Grimsby's fixtures, it's almost inconceivable that they could do that.
Southend have 2 of their 3 matches at home, against Leyton Orient and Newport and an away match against us.
If they happen to beat Orient and we lose at Tranmere and at Forest Green then it will be a very nervous home match against Southend a week on Tuesday!
I just hope Southend don't beat Orient because I can't say I expect us to get anything at Tranmere, Forest Green or at Exeter in our last match as they are all fighting for automatic promotion or playoff positions and we are very poor at the moment.

Adam - the voice of reason as usual. We seem to be obsessed with Southend presumably because of the perceived significance of the upcoming fixture.Adam29 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 21, 2021 12:25 pm And Southend have scored 3 goals in the last 13 games and their starting line up yesterday had scored a combined total of 8 goals for the season between them.

Phil Browns appointment with only 6 games to go was either a moment of inspiration or as it might seem to many desperation. From what I know of Phil Brown he is quite meticulous when it comes to setting targets. My guess is that when looked at the last 6 games for Southend at the time he set himself a minimum of probably 11 points (i,e 47 points). Three wins and two draws. This would've allowed Colchester and Barrow to get to 46 points but no further. Two of the three wins would have to be Colchester and Barrow. The third I suspect he would have earmarked as the first game at home to Crawley. . Exeter away, Orient at home and Newport at home would have to deliver the other two points.
What he got was a stalemate of a draw against Crawley, a decent point at Exeter which I believe the latter dominated and an abject defeat at Colchester described by Brown as the biggest game in Southends history. Colchester get two wins, Barrow get one to Exeter. Instead of the three teams being on or about 43 or 44 points, Southend still need 9 points from 3 games. Whatever their strategy was is bust. All they have left on their side is mathematics. To the lack of goals you can add the fact that they are especially poor at home (I think their last home win was against us).
Still think Grimsby will finish above Southend. They showed against Bolton that they can raise their game in a way that Southend cant. Unfortunately for them Morecambe demonstrated that Grimsby probably cannot raise it in every game.
Would really like this season to end. Its been pretty horrible. Whilst survival would bring relief the absence of enjoyment has been palpable. The forum has become tense, manic and fractious. I think we need to take a collective deep breath.

When Suffolk Blue says Southend and Grimsby are knackered (thus indicating we are safe) that is that. Finito
