The Howard Arms on Lowther Street is pretty good - bit of a walk to the ground. The Beehive opposite Brunton Park is very much the 'home' pub.

Don't let the old man in.
Re: Carlisle (A)
Rugby Club next door is where the plod like the away fans to be. Easy access to the ground, locals are 'normally' friendly and if there's no Rugby on then plenty of space.MisterPleasant wrote: ↑Mon Nov 08, 2021 12:14 pmThe Howard Arms on Lowther Street is pretty good - bit of a walk to the ground. The Rugby is away at 'Penrith'
Re: Carlisle (A)
CRUFC are away at Winters Park to Penrith this Saturday.
Have emailed the Rugby to ask if they are open early as usually they don’t open until twelve. Also what parking arrangements they offer. Waiting on a response will update when known.

Re: Carlisle (A)
I rang the club today and was told somebody was trying to organise a train, but nothing forthcoming as yet. They also said it would be on their site if they did manage to sort it.Personally I think it has been left too late to try and organise it.I think somebody has underestimated how many people would want to go and watch us play Carlisle. It normally takes a few weeks notice to organise a footballing special and it has to fit in-between the existing timetable, also most people have already bought their train tickets.Possibly the only way it could happen is to replace a scheduled service to Carlisle with a football special, which may cause disruption for people would normally use that particular train.
Re: Carlisle (A)
They have a decent size car park at the front, probably for about 100 (approx) cars. Sometimes they charge and sometimes they don't
(think they will on Saturday) it normally cost's £3 per car.

Re: Carlisle (A)
If it hasn't been sorted by now it won't be. Getting the paths wouldn't be a problem on the coast line. The issue would be getting enough stock to make it worthwhile you'd need say 6 carriages to get enough bodies on to make it pay and as there are only 2 classes [150.s and 156.s ] of units passed to go thru the tunnels at Wigton that wouldn't be easy at the best of times but then throw into the mix the issues on the Southport via Wigan line where the 769.s have sat down and are needing to be replaced with exactly the same classes of units that they'd be looking for to run the special with.Methuselah wrote: ↑Mon Nov 08, 2021 7:06 pm I rang the club today and was told somebody was trying to organise a train, but nothing forthcoming as yet.
They would have done better getting one of the pre-formed charter trains and going up the mainline via Lancaster [ pretty sure there's no North facing chord at Carnforth ] which i.ll bet would still have been quicker and the charter company would have done all the pathing work etc. I.d have rung West Coast at Carnforth they're local and as cheap as anyone else and have loads of stock and cheap[ish]locos [37.s] available [ they operated that shuttle up the Lakes Line a couple of years back when there really was a stock shortage]. Pity somebody at the club hadn't been on the ball or they could have run it and made a few quid into the bargain.

Just wondered what had happened as it all seemed to have gone very quiet especially given plods purported involvement.
Re: Carlisle (A)

Re: Carlisle (A)
Should have added `to watch` on ifollow.

I don’t think that any of us are surprised at the demand for tickets for this game.
Rather than pulling the KO earlier the police should have been working with the club in arranging safe transport. A charter train would have been ideal and could have been sorted well in advance with prior notification to all those buying tickets - We have West Coast at Carnforth and DRS at Carlisle both more than capable of supplying this and both have worked with Northern recently. (DRS supplied the Locos and stock on the coast line for a few years when Northern were short of units. So both these companies are on Northern’s Safety case).
Now we will have hundreds of fans travelling on crowded service trains mixing with the Public and most likely with Carlisle fans also. There is far more potential for trouble here than re-arraigning the KO time.
We have had successful charter trains in the past to Wembley and for those that remember to Burnden Park for Bolton away in the FA cup.
