Getting this thread back on to its original topic - there are others for those that have strayed - it would seem that the most cost effective way is to put in some ready made seats under the roof at the HS end or under the roof of the popular side. May not be what we ideally want, or what would be the most popular, but I think we now have to look to the most cost effective solutions as it looks like cash is getting a little bit short.
It would also be the quickest way to reach the required number.
I don't see how you work that out as none of that work would be entitled to qualify you for the 750k grant that's available [ unless of course that's the plan and they're saving the grant for when they replace the main stand ] but assuming that's not the plan then surely a scheme that consists of a Stadium Solutions 6 row stand at the Steelworks end which would give you approx 700 seats and then a 350 capacity semi-permanent structure [ the end stand at Barnet fits into that category ] in the Holker St/Main Stand corner for the away fans and the removal of the seats from the HS end and the moving of the barrier 3 bays across [ 2 to be incorporated in the away section and the third kept as segregation.] This would then meet the 2000 seats and increase the away capacity beyond the 1000 I suggested to increase the income to be generated from visiting fans.
And unless as I suggested above they're saving the grant money for a new main Stand if the above was to cost say 1.5 million half would come from the grant and some of the clubs contribution can then be obtained from other sources [ they should speak to Andy Holt and i.m sure he.ll tell you how little he actually had to pay for their new stand] its amazing what money is actually available if you know where to look [not at least from Cash-Match] which would mean the club could meet the 2k seat requirement for an outlay of less than half a million and i.ve yet to see a suggestion that beats that.
Yes that's still a lot of money I know but i.m sure the current owners are quite capable of arranging a half-million loan over say 10 years which equates to a monthly repayment of just £5200 which a ground development draw would easily cover or maybe they could look at a Tiffosy bond as a lot of clubs are now doing. An added benefit of that plan would be that you'd be able to kick the Main Stand development 10 years down the road and maybe that would then enable the dressing rooms to be moved back under the stand as was planned [include that into the development plan and you're effectively halving the cost.
I don't buy all these scare stories about the cost of materials [ what major projects nationally have you seen cancelled on that basis ] and if that is the case there will be companies maybe like Stadium Solutions who will be desperate for work and would take the job on for minimal profit basis just to protect cash flow and their company and its employee's jobs thereby negating the increase in materials prices.
