I’m not a parent at all never mind a parent to a 16 year old. If you read the above post, i think scrapping the academy for the coming 12-18 months is a good idea, if money is tight and the cash is needed elsewhere.

I just think all signs and signals coming out of the club right now point to the withdrawal of Mr Shearer and Mr Hornby endless pockets of cash and the club tightening the purse strings to become a more sustainable self run club.

The owners have worked miracles to get the club to where it is and I certainly wouldn’t begrudge them that, but feel it’s going to be a long old year.

It’s just my opinion and I’m free to air it on a unofficial forum.
Stop causing unnecessary trouble based on unfounded theories, if you really support the club WHY have you just suddenly arrived? bye bye 👋
It’s a forum for us to talk, discuss and speculate. The whole point of the platform. Not to pretend it’s all roses and rainbows. If I can’t air my concerns and opinion for fear of causing “unnecessary trouble” why have a forum at all.

“Unnecessary trouble” 🤣 get out more

OK then show some evidence to back up what you say regarding each of the topics you've brought up ?! if not it has to be someone trying to undermine the board!

Getting this thread back on to its original topic - there are others for those that have strayed - it would seem that the most cost effective way is to put in some ready made seats under the roof at the HS end or under the roof of the popular side. May not be what we ideally want, or what would be the most popular, but I think we now have to look to the most cost effective solutions as it looks like cash is getting a little bit short.
It would also be the quickest way to reach the required number.

Unbelievable! Someone other than the usual 4 or. 5 who post on here numerous times a day dares to post an opinion and is told to leave.
I forgot there are only a few on here qualified to make comments everyone else is coming expected to stay silent and bow down to your superior football knowledge.
Before you write me off as a.nobody and not a true supporter I have been a member on here for about 5 years just never bothered to post before as I can only usually stand it for a couple of weeks before the same people annoy me enough to leave for a few months

Don't forget there are generous grants available for all this work present and past and although I acknowledge the amount the owners have spent, together with income through the turnstiles which has gone up massively T.V. appearences etc., we should have money to help with this.

Without any kind of statement from the club this is all speculation, we could do with an update or reassurance of what is going on and what the plans are.

I don't see how you work that out as none of that work would be entitled to qualify you for the 750k grant that's available [ unless of course that's the plan and they're saving the grant for when they replace the main stand ] but assuming that's not the plan then surely a scheme that consists of a Stadium Solutions 6 row stand at the Steelworks end which would give you approx 700 seats and then a 350 capacity semi-permanent structure [ the end stand at Barnet fits into that category ] in the Holker St/Main Stand corner for the away fans and the removal of the seats from the HS end and the moving of the barrier 3 bays across [ 2 to be incorporated in the away section and the third kept as segregation.] This would then meet the 2000 seats and increase the away capacity beyond the 1000 I suggested to increase the income to be generated from visiting fans.

And unless as I suggested above they're saving the grant money for a new main Stand if the above was to cost say 1.5 million half would come from the grant and some of the clubs contribution can then be obtained from other sources [ they should speak to Andy Holt and i.m sure he.ll tell you how little he actually had to pay for their new stand] its amazing what money is actually available if you know where to look [not at least from Cash-Match] which would mean the club could meet the 2k seat requirement for an outlay of less than half a million and i.ve yet to see a suggestion that beats that.

Yes that's still a lot of money I know but i.m sure the current owners are quite capable of arranging a half-million loan over say 10 years which equates to a monthly repayment of just £5200 which a ground development draw would easily cover or maybe they could look at a Tiffosy bond as a lot of clubs are now doing. An added benefit of that plan would be that you'd be able to kick the Main Stand development 10 years down the road and maybe that would then enable the dressing rooms to be moved back under the stand as was planned [include that into the development plan and you're effectively halving the cost.

I don't buy all these scare stories about the cost of materials [ what major projects nationally have you seen cancelled on that basis ] and if that is the case there will be companies maybe like Stadium Solutions who will be desperate for work and would take the job on for minimal profit basis just to protect cash flow and their company and its employee's jobs thereby negating the increase in materials prices.

Really!!!? Ask any local supplier or builder about rising costs. They can't keep up
The past two years have seen construction material costs soar in the UK. Now the war in Ukraine and soaring inflation are adding even more pressure. The cost of raw materials in the UK is expected to more than treble in 2022, according to the Building Cost Information Service (BCIS) Materials Cost Index.

Does this help? https://www.nwemail.co.uk/news/20135088 ... expansion/

Re planning permission, sometimes this is not needed if the proposed work is on land you own and is a given distance from within your boundaries, possibly as little as 3 metres. Building Regs would apply of course.
We will foller the soccer, over land and sea...

I didn't say that prices weren't going up i.m saying that to date there hasn't been thousands of projects across the country cancelled because of it.

One of the main items is steel yet in this country we have a number of mothballed steel plants so with a bit of government intervention [ now were out of the EU] there's no reason why the price of steel in this country should rise just bring those unused plants back into use for example.

If the 350 capacity stand for the away fans which is beginning to look like it is definitely a part of the plans it may it not if it was classed as demountable or semi-permanent yes it needs council permission [ which can be granted on a devolved basis by the chief planning officer but not needing a full planning application and the permission has to be renewed every 3 years ] Thats taken from the procedure Blackpool went thru when the got permission for and built the temporary 4000 capacity East Stand at Bloomfield Road in just 8 weeks during the summer they got promoted to the PL and whats more its still there today and will be for a couple more years yet.
