Some more reaction to last nights pre season friendly defeat for Barrow AFC against League One Fleetwood
Here’s the thoughts from the Bluebirds defender Niall Canavan

Re: Fleetwood game
Another good interview with good questions from Adam again, nothing banal or boring about what he asks. Dealt with well by Canavan, who sounds level headed and switched on. I thought he played well last night. He looked quicker, never missed a header, and appears to have lost weight. Club captaincy in the offing I’ll guess.Adam29 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 8:19 am Some more reaction to last nights pre season friendly defeat for Barrow AFC against League One Fleetwood

Re: Fleetwood game
I was raising the issue that we are having injuries to our better players.
We have been told playing the lower league teams was to get match fitness.
The first team we played anywhere near our standard we failed to beat irrespective of us being down to 10 men or a wonder strike.
Let's see what happens against Salford another test against opposition at the same level.
I've followed Barrow since 1967 and unlike alot continued when thousands went missing when we went non league and skint.
If people take offence sorry its just my opinion.
Playing lower league teams , beating them and thinking you are world beaters is not always the way forward .
Bennett was injured playing such a game because of a bad tackle.
We do not want a third season struggling and hopefully we can bring in another proven scorer.

How is a new manager with half a new team that have never played together meant to implement a new style of play if we play against much better teams that you can’t get the ball off. The idea of pre season is to play lesser opposition then build up. Which we are doing

i dont take offence but if i think your being a knob i will call you out on it as its my opinion, and most of the time on here you are being a knob, hence the response u get when you post drivelPedro wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 9:52 amI was raising the issue that we are having injuries to our better players.

Re: Fleetwood game
Busy and energetic but lightweight. Have yet to see Bennett but even when he’s back fit he’ll be a few games off the pace. I think Wild will be trying to bring one in this week.
Still searching for the Young Soul Rebels

Re: Fleetwood game
Strange game really, Fleetwood we’re aggressive, reflecting their managers playing style, which I rather liked. We looked lively and organised, without Bennet up front ,just like majority of last season no height. We created absolutely nothing, which is a big concern, infact I could have played in goals for fleetwood, with the same end result. Also 6 players now missing, deja vu comes to mind.

Where's Amadi-Holloway these days? Free agent I believe.

Re: Fleetwood game
Went to the game last night, imo we look good at the back organised and solid our archilles heel again is like last season we dont look like scoring i know bennet never played but this would possibly be the line up without him so we will need another big striker in and quickly to hold the ball or i fear a bad start to the season

Re: Fleetwood game
I would be happy with Holloway. Great at bringing others in to the game and does a lot of the dirty work up there battling with big defenders. Get him signed.

Re: Fleetwood game
I'm less convinced about Bennett than some on here seem to be. I saw him many times when he played for us previously and he was a fair way short in ability to Byron Harrison pre Byron's injury. Last season he was a starter in 22 matches for Sutton but a sub in 18 so was hardly a first choice and managed 6 goals in those appearances. He will probably be a good ssquad player but IMO we need a better striker in addition.popular side wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 4:47 pm Went to the game last night, imo we look good at the back organised and solid our archilles heel again is like last season we dont look like scoring i know bennet never played but this would possibly be the line up without him so we will need another big striker in and quickly to hold the ball or i fear a bad start to the season![]()
