I honestly can't believe we are still talking about Holloway,this forum never fails to amaze me.

There are many references on here to a "proven" striker being required, almost as though a player like that can bought from the supermarket. Any consistent goal scorers are like gold dust in the transfer market, they get poached to go up a league or two, or sideways for big money, and they command big fees. To fill the (apparent) void for us they need to be 1.available for transfer 2.affordable 3.want to play for Barrow (ambition/geography/style of play). 4.be unsettled where they currently play, and want to move. Rhetorically, who is available to come in if any of those 4 factors are realistic? It's naïve to think that it's easy to get this mythical "proven" goal scorer. My only answer is drop the overused "proven" word (unless we were to be unbelievably lucky), and go with someone who Wild thinks can fit in and has the potential to do a job.

You forgot to mention 1) they have to be a good person too!

The remark about obsession with signing former players is funny Rooney ,Bennett .
Bennett I like his work rate but the one player I would sign is Quigley.
Lead the line hardly missed a game.
We have a good defence but little up front which means it will be a nail biting season.

There are better alternatives out there , one of them is called Scott Quigley. Don’t know if we can afford him or if he would want to come come back but one of the best CF we’ve had in a long time. I,m not obsessed with former players but good players who could improve the team. He,s not going to be a regular in Stockport,s team who will be pushing for promotion this coming season. I like Bennet but imho Quigley is better.

I haven't but he's only been at 2 clubs where he's had a good goalscoring record and last season was his best (almost a goal every 3 games) but at National League level.

A similar record to Scott Quigley then Russell.

If he gets half the goals Scott managed I'll be more than happy.

Quigley is a much better player than Bennett in every respect except in the air and it would be great if we got him back but I can't see it happening I'm afraid.

Are there though? We have failed to replace Quigley for three seasons now and it just might be third time unlucky for us if we again fail to score goals. Not having a shot on target v Fleetwood did not make for good reading.

Fair enough l wasn’t at the game, just going on what l have read on this thread: ‘few chances’, ‘don’t look like scoring’, ‘lightweight up front’ etc. However, l also read that Pete Wild is looking for another CF so here’s hoping...

Trouble is most decent strikers have been picked up by now.
