Carlisle v Barrow match thread
Re: Carlisle v Barrow match thread
"about 40 of our most vociferous fans were turned back to Barrow by Cumbria Police at some point in their journey. All had match tickets and searches indicated no pyrotechnics etc. Anyone who believes in civil liberties might expect questions be asked about this. One for the lawyers, perhaps."

Vociferous ?Probably known trouble makers and police intel probably alerted the police that they were attempting to attend. Job well done imomall wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 12:42 pm "about 40 of our most vociferous fans were turned back to Barrow by Cumbria Police at some point in their journey. Beautiful prose : I bet Phillips himself had to look it up !bluessupporter wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 12:29 pmGreat, honest, and a joy to read, even if I did have to look up what onanism meant! Have to say that was a particularly good word to use about that particular man!barrowaberdeen wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 8:29 pm A fan writes

Re: Carlisle v Barrow match thread
I think we should give Radio Cumbria a break they had five people at the game on Tuesday night - A presenter and two commentary teams of two people each - I also know AJ can’t drive so most away games he has to travel by train and following him on Twitter it seems it often involves a 2 night stay because he can’t get back after most matches. This week I think he’s having a 3 night stay because there’s a train strike on Friday. All of this coverage isn’t cheap but Radio Cumbria are prepared to throw money at it. Keep up the good work.bluessupporter wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 9:09 amYes must admit I found the highlights of the Carlisle commentary that featured Philips and Lumsden was particularly ott in putting down Barrow. I thought the BBC was supposed to be neutral when they cover the whole of Cumbria but this was once again like Radio Carlisle to the exclusion of Barrow.Jim wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 8:41 am
Regarding the RC post-match, it was particularly tastless, or perhaps thoughtless.
It is not hard to imagine that if the scores had been reversed and Carlisle had been hammered 5-1, the post match would have been a discussion between Phillips and Lumsden about Carlisle's failings rather than how brilliant Barrow were.
I listened to Adam and Goody whilst watching iFollow and their reactions were far more measured. I suppose to some extent this was inevitable given the way the match was going but judging by the Carlisle highlights I heard just before 10 it was far more professional.
I hope Adam gets his wish to work full-time for the beeb, because listening on Tuesday he was far more professional than one of those who is already there.

If they were known - but hadn't being prosecuted/received banning orders from the courts - then what Cumbria Police did was infringe the liberties of those 40 fans.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 12:49 pmVociferous ?Probably known trouble makers and police intel probably alerted the police that they were attempting to attend. I don't know where Mall (who made the initial post) received his information but he posted the comment in speech marks so I presume it was a comment made by somebody else. Those prevented from attending (unless banned) should seek legal advice on this matter.

Re: Carlisle v Barrow match thread
I think there was a post late Tuesday night about it which was subsequently taken down. Sounds like they have been deemed guilty of ‘Thoughtcrime’ by the Thought Police. Has it come to this in the county?

Can someone summarise what Lumsden had to say? Listened to Simpson's interview and had to say they were genuine comments and he saw what I saw in the game.

The Carlisle fan on after the game (Brunton Bugle podcast I think it was called) was spot on as well. He was honest there was nowt in the game until the offside goal
Have seen the goal clips RC tweeted out, baring in mind James Philips may commentate on us at some point if Adam had to miss for any reason the send him back to the national league type stuff was a bit OTT to say the least

Re: Carlisle v Barrow match thread
People say the truth hurts but Carlisle deserved the win, yes close first half but that second half we were well beaten by the better side all day long, to many times we looked so poor all over the pitch, Pete Wild making out we gifted Carlisle the win is pure BS from the podcast we were CRAP, the manager has some big decisions to make on several players who are out of contract, who does he want to offer new contracts too at the moment would it really matter if none were kept on. Hopefully our other new signings will get enough game time to see what they bring to the side.
Re: Carlisle v Barrow match thread
Of course it was a sub-optimal, below par performance and we are all hurting including PW. His comments are not incorrect as individual errors were our downfall along with the offside 1st goal (see the video stills). But I unfortunately had to listen to Philips and Lummocks on my Ifollow feed and they are sooo biased it is embarrassing, I get they are Carlisle comms but I know for a fact Adam and Goody would be more measured and respectful. P&L laughing about incidents leading to goals, they were also like that v Hartlepool the other week when Garner left a foot in and the Pools player ended up with a frac-pac on and needed a stretcher to get back to tunnel. Disgraceful especially from an ex-pro.
But hey, we have to move on, to dwell on this is not healthy, lets forget this feeling until we play them again, we need to show the team and club our support despite the hurt.

Radio sheep dip always promotes Carisle more than Barrow.Etsjb wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 11:31 pm Of course it was a sub-optimal, below par performance and we are all hurting including PW. I would go to say that the proposals who comment on their games are very poor compared to Adam and John Goodwin who are both impartial and balanced and far superior .
The guy who keeps going on about Derby is totally unprofessional and very poor.
PW keeps saying he wants good people who are honest.
Well Pete you have this season to sort things out.
Carlisle taught us a lesson but in Simpson who I hate to listen to he has a voice that would turn a glass eye to sleep.
He is experienced and has managed to turn Carlisle around.
PW cannot keep saying we were unlucky he needs to be honest and have another game plan.
Wholesale changes to personnel is needed in the summer and a better performance in Saturday.

Lol, talking shite. Group of people who were searched at a service station outside Carlisle with no issues from the officers there. Then searched in a car park and held for 40 minutes with no explanation. All searches came up with nothing. All had match tickets and were treated like prisoners. But if that’s what you say.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 12:49 pmVociferous ?Probably known trouble makers and police intel probably alerted the police that they were attempting to attend.
