IIRC the official figure given for that was 6002, but many think it was closer to 7000.

The capacity will have been reduced but the Dover FAT replay was a sell out.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Remember at the time talking to the clubs safety officer who said there was a couple of thousand more in the ground. He said he showed the police as many spaces as he could find to accommodate more fans. Still think there was more fans against Altrincham a few years earlier in the Trophy as it was impossible to move on the popular side

I cannt understand the negativity regarding the two new stands

Granted Barrow now have 3 separate structures on that side of the ground ,not too pleasing to the eye , but neither was Watfords Vicarage Road in 1980’s

A main stand , with an obvious addition to the left , open seats?? To the right and then an open terrace.!!!!

Rome wasn’t built in a day

These improvements along with roofing Holker Street end are hopefully the start .

Newcastle United demolished the home end on Leazes End circa 1974 , with the Gallowgate becoming the home end until the stadium was rebuilt

In time Barrow May do this with the end with the squash courts in

Demolish this and their is enough land to build a canny stand there - but like everything it’s down to money

The board don’t want to do a Wolves - demolish a stand - build a £1 million Stand - get relegated and go bust

Wolves went from 1st division to 4th in consecutive seasons from 1982 onwards

Am I right in assuming there will be an open section to the roof in the middle of the two new stands to accommodate the floodlights?

You can see the floodlight peeking through the gap a couple of posts up^

Correct. It will also act as an air vent as it will be stifling in there.
