Yet, League 2 Barrow is being asked to provide 1,000. Hmm.Kenilworth Road is an old, and historic stadium and a home to the Hatters since 1905. As such, parking at the stadium is very limited indeed which means that unfortunately, car parking spaces are not available to the general public.
However, Luton is one of the best connected towns in the UK, with excellent rail, bus and airport facilities.

Re: Expansion
I thought I'd have a look at what Premier League Luton Town offer in terms of visitor car parking. This is what their website says:
Don't let the old man in.

Wonder what the requirements would be if Kendal Town were to expand!

Re: Expansion
Some of the requirements for clubs coming into the EFL are ridiculous, no wonder clubs can find themselves in financial trouble very quickly.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
Re: Expansion
I’m sure the environmental impact of putting a multi storey on the ressa will curtail any parking besides there are plenty of parking options nearby that our neighbours so far have turned a blind eye to. Barrow is an sssi there’s crested newts and natterjack toad’s everywhere you know.
Re: Expansion
Wonder if there’s any limit to how far the parking needs to be from the ground, furness college isn’t a million miles away and has loads of parking. Seems insane asking for a thousand parking spaces and just a tick in a box as we had no issues when we sold out v villa. Previously mentioned Luton are even getting underground heating wavered by the premier league (apparently)

Re: Expansion
Bit of a worry. Typical local authority nonsense, although the club have had almost 3 years to sort this out, nothing like leaving things to the last minute.

Re: Expansion
It's a load of nonsense - just because the capacity has gone up by about 1000, doesn't mean there are going to be an extra thousand people in attendance- far from it - an extra 1k will be an exception , and they won't all be travelling alone in their own cars- !

Re: Expansion
I'm sure that you can go over the heads of these local councils and I'd like to know on what basis do they have for making this requirement.
Just read about the question given by the council on parking surely can't we get evidence as most away fans will come in coaches!, you can appeal to the secretary of state over this and a good lawyer would wipe the floor with these local council employees!

Re: Expansion
There’s always a solution when you’re committed to solving the problem, There will be several ways we can ease this burden.
Would a park n ride be a temporary option, Ask the historical buses that ran last week if they would ferry car Parker’s to the ground & back again for 2 or 3 quid each rider to cover their overheads & use what ever areas are available.
Knock whoever’s heads together at that Council as it’s ridiculous to ask for an extra 1k parking when it will hardly ever be needed, Even when the ground is sold out it still won’t need an extra thousand car spaces.

Re: Expansion
This is just beyond ridiculous. Hope the powers that be see sense and quickly. Such a petty requirement could significantly damage the club’s future.
Life is always better when it's better
Re: Expansion
People need to realise it’s not the Counsellors that make the decisions like this, it’s planners it may be ridiculous. Yes what they’re asking for but like somebody’s said we’ve had three years to get this sorted, and we left it till the last minute to try and get planning permission for and it when most off the time it take up to 3 months to get planning permission so that Left us really little time if anything cropped up

Re: Expansion
Surely the club just needs to try and arrange for adequate parking space within reach of the ground and available on match nights, but just because the capacity rises doesn't mean the attendances do are the officials so blinkered
I'm sure it will get sorted but it's a bit of a worry

Decisions are now being made by 'a' council - 'not' our council, which to me is bound to lead to a lack of empathy.bluessupporter wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 5:33 pm Wonder what the requirements would be if Kendal Town were to expand!![]()
Re: Expansion
Seems like a nonsense requirement. Even if they had a car park arrangement big enough they couldn’t enforce people to use it. There’s street parking close to the ground and the majority of the home crowd are walk-ups and most away fans arrive on organised coach trips or by train. We had a 5000+ crowd for the Villa game and I don’t recall any issues involving gridlocked roads, parking etc.
Instead of making it difficult for the club help them with this. The club are trying to fulfil a ridiculous EFL requirement for seats.
Let’s hope all can work together and fast track this through to a solution that doesn’t leave the club losing out on match-day revenues.
