I agree with most of what you've said on this thread WG, but favouring Carlisle is not fine. It should be balanced and as equal as it can be.

As you say, Adam has a passion for Barrow, which is why it's an insult to him to cut short his interview in the way they did.

I think you are right.
There’s no argument that Carlisle get more airtime, but it doesn’t bother me much.
All I want to hear after the game is Wild’s interview, and everything else is pretty much irrelevant, and largely a bit dull.
It’s not a measure of success or ability who is on the radio the most.

There is a hierarchy based on status and there needs to be, we accept that. We don't want a series of 10-minute round ups of every football team in Cumbria. The balance is pretty good usually but yesterday was a debacle. Maybe there is a simple explanation and we will all move on in complete harmony and enjoy the shows.

Which is what the thread has been about! Alright is gone off topic, but the depth of feeling by so many people tells you the passion we all have about Barrow.

Yes it's great to see that we're back to third and long may it continue. We have a good number of home games now, and our home record has been good apart from that one 'bump in the road'

It's not just the team - it's the whole club that seems to have a great spirit. Let's build on that and show everyone what little ol' Barrow is capable of!

Listening to the Barrow interview on iPlayer after the programme I see it was 10 minutes long and there seemed to be a couple of 'fluffs' near the end that would need editing. Perhaps 10 minutes is a tad too long for an interview and if personnel cuts have been made to the station then perhaps there was nobody to do the editing in time and it was easier to let Lumsden sound off in the way he did. Still no excuse, but if true, perhaps an explanation.

The surprise was that Lumsden was allowed to carry on the way he did. Does the programme not have a producer who is supposed to give balance, or perhaps he/she is also favours Carlisle United or found it easier not to bother!

I fully get that CUFC will get the majority of the show due to numerous factors but surely we can get 5/10% more & them less?
Times change & we today are a FL club & growing, reflect that with a few more pre recorded interviews & snippets, It’s not much to ask imho & would show more fairness.

I’ve listened for just over 20 yrs now & frankly it was a lifeline for me over here & I will always be grateful to BBC RC for that & more recently we have Adam who a quality commentator & fights our corner & goes above & Beyond so it’s not a reflection on him…..

No but a word of warning. The BBC recently made huge cuts to local radio with Cumbria suffering some of the most savage cuts. We now only get proper local radio from 6-2 on Mon to Fri. From 2.00pm we have shared programmes with Radio Lancashire. At weekends its shared programmes with Lancs and merseyside. Thankfully we still have local football covered and a Monday night show at 6 and the Friday night preview show at 6. But who is to say these wont go if the BBC look for more cuts. The counties 3 professional rugby league sides lost there Sunday afternoon Rugby League coverage a few years ago and now just have online commentaries.

Yes, Tim Davie certainly swung the axe on provincial radio stations around Britain.
I think a big part of the problem with our lack of post match compared to Carlisle's which was well highlighted yesterday, stems from the fact that Barrow, Workington, Kendal and Penrith are only a sideshow with Barrow being the top turn in that sideshow.

Just a quick reminder Barrow won 1 -0 and are 3rd in the table, I bet the vast majority of the home crowd yesterday couldn't care less what's on RC post match the youngsters would be heading home along with many older fans, can't see the others having a drink after the game in fan zone & Cross bar all gathering around the radio, plenty of time on a Saturday night to catch up with post match interviews.

That’s brilliant. That will be 2 Barrovians on Radio Cumbria tomorrow morning as news reader Heather Wainwright is from Barrow whose father has been a Barrow football supporter all his life
