He's out if contact and whilst they don't have an automatic extra year they can trigger they can offer him a new deal. So it's a maybe?

Think the only one I would have kept out of the released list would have been Sam Foley, never let us down. But surely good enough to be a squad player . Anyway like I said earlier got to trust the process.

Most of the list are understandable but I was surprised to George Ray in there - he always seemed to have a mistake in him last season but he has been brilliant this season, solid, passing out from the back and chipping in with some goals. Sounds like a big character too.
Sam Foley has been another great servant for the club for a couple of years, always reliable, with some key moments. However, I can see that he might not get much game time so maybe a move elsewhere (to a smaller club!) would suit him.
Same with Tom White - he must be the last of the National League winning squad? Always gave his best, must have been a right s*d to play against!
Tyrell Warren has had a lot of stick on here. Not surprised to see him go as I don’t think he is quite good enough at this level - some great moments though, great headers and tackles.
Thanks to them all, and the rest of the list.

Strangely, the one part of football at our level, I really don’t like. One minute your singing a players name,he’s idolised by many, cos he plays for my club, next minute he’s gone elsewhere, and now cares not about Barrow any longer. I miss the days when a player, Cowps, Kenny Gordon , Procter, were there forever. Sign of the times I guess.

Bradford fans suggested the game against us was by far his best display of the season

I thought that Mark, but perhaps Sam wanted more game time because if not we'd have kept him !

The way I read it Bakewell is that PW has come to the conclusion that the speed of transition from defence to attack has been a significant problem for us.

He signalled early on that he wanted Canavan to remain as the main defensive asset. The club also seem to believe that Chester is worth pursuing for next season.

If so then pace needs to be introduced into the back line. Hence Ray and Feely become surplus to requirements as does Tom White. All solid players but not deemed mobile enough.

I think the difference with those three and others, is that they were playing part-time football, and manager Ray Wilkie also had a job. They also did not have the associated costs of training together. There were only a few agents trying to turn their heads, and the club and most of the players wanted nothing to do with them as they had jobs they could still carry on with whilst they were playing, and when the day came to hang up their boots.

We are now in the world of full-time football and all that brings. Whilst desperately disappointed we didn't get a chance to go up, I think we also have to think about the cost of that, with reportedly ridiculous money being played to average players.

Like most others I want to see us in EFL1, but can we realistically afford it, given the losses we are already reportedly making?

It would be as his he's another whose biggest weakness is a lack of pace which is not a problem against any of our strikers!
In actual fact, he's been in and out of the Bradford team for much of the season when for most of the season the Bradford defence has looked awful.

I was also surprised to see Ray go as I thought he had a pretty good season. I can see the logic of getting a central defender with pace as our 3 all lacked in that area but given a choice of the 2 (Canavan being the outstanding 1 of the 3) I'd have taken Ray over Chester.
