Re: Released/Retained
We just have to trust our management. After all they did bring Whitfield here when Stockport didn,t want him.Its just a pity we didn,t try and extend his contract at the end of the first year and then we may have got some money for him plus I don,t think Pete wild played him in the right position or used him enough and that may have made him make his mind up to leave.

Re: Released/Retained
The problem was Whits was a winger but we never played with Wingers last season. We had wingbacks of which Wits never excelled. Similarly he struggled up front playing in a front two. Like at Stockport our system never suited him he wasn’t good enough to excel in other positions he was a winger plain and simpleMethuselah wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2024 12:12 pmWe just have to trust our management.
He’d probably say himself that he didn’t have a great season last season although always gave 100%. I think PW ended up playing him out of position and he went from leading assists and chipping in with a few goals to dropping off form. Agree that he didn’t look comfortable playing in a central role in front of goal but that’ was PW searching for goals. We do need players who can fit in multiple positions but it’s as a wide player where BW excels. Was hoping a new manager and a change in footballing approach may be enough for him to stay but obviously looking for a fresh challenge.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2024 12:42 pmThe problem was Whits was a winger but we never played with Wingers last season. "To achieve anything and to get to the Football League, we have to expect to win every game. I've got to get everyone believing that we can, and I will work hard to embed that mentality into the players, the town, the board and whoever else” Ian Evatt.

Been keeping an eye on his insta and apart from regularly wearing his Barrow training tops he seems to have been doing a bit of travelling around England of late. Was in London the other day and in Notts today. For someone who is usually straight on the beach in the close season I think it's fair to assume he's doing the rounds of a few clubs.
So he's ended up at Burton - I wasn't far off

Re: Released/Retained
He’s just signed for burton
Last time I looked burton were in league one
League one last time I looked was the division higher than league two
So what in that statement is questionable?

Good luck to the lad always gave 100% and had a great season last season despite being a square peg in a round hole playing all over the place to suit wilds formation

I think its his ability to play at a higher level that is being questioned.

Re: Released/Retained
So with the signing of Connor Mahoney does that now mean your mind has been changed and your ST is awaiting collectionMethuselah wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2024 12:12 pmWe just have to trust our management. After all they did bring Whitfield here when Stockport didn,t want him.Its just a pity we didn,t try and extend his contract at the end of the first year and then we may have got some money for him plus I don,t think Pete wild played him in the right position or used him enough and that may have made him make his mind up to leave.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.
Re: Released/Retained
Totally obvious his ability to play at a higher level is what is in question. But as usual Adam has to step in to try and belittle what somebody has saidMain Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2024 2:18 pmI think its his ability to play at a higher level that is being questioned.

Give over that’s harsh in the extreme. It was a simple misunderstanding nothing more nothing lessLouis29 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2024 2:35 pmTotally obvious his ability to play at a higher level is what is in question. That’s exactly what I meant. Didn’t go too well for Josh Gordon at Burton did it. Good luck to him though.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2024 2:18 pmI think its his ability to play at a higher level that is being questioned.
