I suppose the thought of coming to Barrow in Furness after the delights of Spain was not exactly an alluring one!

Re Real fixture tomorrow, it is a rather unique event and their boss has just been on RC talking about the possibility of a return fixture over there next year! Also with that strong connection to Aston Villa, I’m thinking/hoping maybe there could be some Villa loanees heading for Holker St? Not following it too closely but l don’t think we have signed anyone of real note as yet.

Wigan play away to Tranmere Friday night and us Saturday afternoon wonder which game Wigan will prioritise, was hoping for a stern test against a full Wigan side we might just get the kids.

They will likely mix the teams - they did the same earlier in pre season where they played Chorley on the Friday and Fylde on the Saturday

Just out of interest, who was our top scorer last season and what was that mighty haul?

Kian Spence with 9……. Joint 38th in the league. We really should have smashed it into the top 7, if not automatics but our strikers never scored enough goals. It remains the biggest head scratcher of Wild’s reign. Let’s hope Clemence can work with these players and improve our goal scoring record.

Thought it was Ben Whitfield who got 11 (in all competitions).

Spence was our top league scorer scoring all 9 of his goals in league fixtures

You might be thinking of the 11 assists from Ben Whitfield in the 2022/23 season. It’s almost a distant memory now but those assists helped Josh Gordon score 15 that first Wild season. Forget that he was a good goal scorer. None of our forwards got anywhere near double figures last season and he tried them all
