Really? And how would that bring in the "proven goalscorer" you say we so desperately need?
Not sure we will be able to attract proven goalscorer.
Yates came to us and progressed to become Forest Captain, Quigley came not a youth played but certainly unproven.
I would like a proven goalscorer, to me that would be the like of Cook but that's not going to happen.

I agree that "proven goalscorer" is too much to expect. They are quite rare creatures at our level - perhaps Andy Cook and Jack Muldoon. Looking back at last season, Cole Stockton didn't exactly transform our fortunes, although he did get a few goals early on. Ceartinly, if we could find someone who can grab a goal out of nothing, either a 'worldie' or simply barging his way through to score like Quigley did occasionally, we would score a few more in spite of not playing well, but I think a lot of the problem is in the way we play and the inability to find a player in a scoring position in the box.

Expect it will blow a few gaskets on here but I've just seen a list of the top scorers in the National League. Alex Newby has not only scored six goals for Alty but more interestingly has also got seven assists far more than anyone else apart from a lad from FGR. Just throwing it out there.

For goodness sake! How does any club at this level find a goalscorer? All you need is a 'scout' with an eye for a player. They are everywhere if you look. The 24 leading goalscorers in our league range from 10 down to 4. The top 3 have 10 and one of them is Cheek of Bromley who was playing in the National League last season. Another on 9 goals is Lowe of Walsall who is 19 and is on loan from Stoke. If you can't afford to spend much money you go to those 2 routes, either non-league or loan but you HAVE to be able to pick a player. Whoever picked our strikers couldn't pick his nose!!

Will totally depend on if any players leave in January. I can't see us just going out and buying someone without departures in the squad. Personally I think we are a CB short to push lads we have, I'd like an passing midfielder (someone who could actually play as a no 10) Goal scorer will be on every team in this league so we'll either have to offer better terms or find a hiden gem from maybe the lower leagues or even someone from league 1 but just not getting a game atm. I've said several times though that the service to the strikers is poor so that needs to improve.

If a centre back is needed i was really impressed with burnley under 21 player Benn Ward an organiser who never put a foot wrong against us talking to his defenders all the time and also has pace

Dom Telford was leading scorer in L2 with Newport and was in the EFL team of the year. It was a great signing on paper but it just hasn’t worked out for him him . I hoped he’d be the one yard tap in specialist but the system we played under Wild and now with Clemence is reliant on width and doesn’t suit his game. How can Telford out muscle the centre half’s? He needs the ball played through to him at his feet to or play with a second striker. It’s never going to work for him in the system we play.

I wouldn't expect any significant signings, concentrate on staying up and rebuild in the summer

The last thing we need are any defenders.

Should have kept White + Ray, haven't replaced either of them. Poor

Release list was shocking - also getting shot of Feely and Foley only to them re-sign them.

I'm glad they were re-signed, but shows how poor the management of the released players was

Agree, both good players for us but we can’t carry a squad who are all expecting to play. We have no B team to keep squad players match fit and ready to step in.

Aye, seems to have gone backwards that. At some point the club will tell us we’ve withdrawn from the Central League Cup.

Still got the Lancs Cup to defend, mind.

Definitely shoulda kept Ray. His enthusiasm and energy gave the team something we don't currently have!

Ray was offered a deal and turned it down so was released.
