It’s not all about quality, we were nowhere near them yesterday.
It felt like we were playing in slow motion they seemed so much fitter and stronger. To me that’s down to desire it was like race horses versus donkeys.

The whole club has slowly had its confidence drained, fair enough we have had plenty of bad luck with a lot of issues but for me to not be getting a tune out of our squad is down to SC.

No matter which way you look at football it always comes down to results hence the board must really believe SC can turn things around.

Which is a real worry as they took very swift action with messers Dunn, Jolley, Cooper and Brown. For me he needs to go or the board should share his secret improvement plans. Only time will tell but it’s one hell of a risk.

FWIW and yes I know football isn’t played on paper I still think we have enough quality (especially this year when the division in a poorer standard than it has been) on paper that we shouldn’t be struggling as much as we are. Farman, Jackson, Canavan, Vassell, Gotts, Spence, Campbell and Mahoney are all decent enough players at this level in theory that we shouldn’t be struggling as much as we are

As you obviously know, all the players you've mentioned are defenders or midfield players bar Mahoney (and he is the one on your list I would disagree with as I think he's been almost useless even though you can tell he has some skill) but it means little if you hardly ever look like creating chances let alone scoring goals.

7 of your list started the game yesterday but notably no forwards in your “decent enough” list. Think we all know where the improvements are most needed and thats before we may lose one or two of our key players.
You may get away with two or three having an off day but once you get to four or five in a game who are off it, you’ve had it.

I suspect to get to the root of the problem in the dressing room, You would have to empty Clemence and Woods. This may be unthinkable to the board. We really are catch 22,and need strong action right now. Get shut, and put Cavanan and Foley in charge until the end of season. I’m sure they could whip the boys into shape.

Yes, set pieces are non events,and corners are hopeless.As are most of Farman’s kicks which to often end up out of play,or to long. They don’t look fit enough to me, and lose possession constantly. So poor.

Listening to the latest Barrow social podcast and there’s some good discussion on the appointment of Manager / Head Coach. If the appointments are down to Wood he will have a clear remit from the Board to appoint a Coach who can progress the footballing identity in the way they expect it to be played at Barrow- Fast, attacking football that excites the fans and that reflects the hard work and no nonsense attitude of the people. Ultimately, if they determine that is not happening with Clemence they will draw a conclusion it’s not working.

We can’t escape the fact that Ian Evatt and the National League Champions side has set the footballing blueprint for Barrow. Rightly or wrongly, we keep making reference to that side, to the football, the connection between fans and players, pleasing on the eye and the goals from all over the park, non negotiables and demanding “not settling for mediocrity”.

That’s either become a weight of expectation or set the bar, depending on your viewpoint.

For what it’s worth, I think the way forward for the longer term progress of the cub is to have a SD who has a clear vision and footballing direction for the cub that can transition whoever is tasked with coaching the team. Got to add that you've got to have the right players to suit a particular system, (look at the struggle Carlisle are having with Williamson’s sytem) . You've also got to have that bit of luck with keeping players fit and be on the right side of those fine margins that often decide results.
