Remember Neil Tarrant? Came to us billed as a former big money signing by Aston Villa, showed occasional glimpses of brilliance (memorable goal in an FA Cup match comes to mind), but never stayed at any club long and drifted down the pyramid, ending at Dairlington Railway Athletic.behind the goals wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 10:38 pmJust because you pay a big transfer fee for a player doesn't make him a good player, not just Barrow but many Clubs especially in the Premier League signing very average players for millions, Mahoney is another average player who is on a decent wage and doing little to earn it, we will probably sign many more next season and the players will gladly take a easy wage.saltcellar wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 9:54 pm
Mahoney has been a big disappointment especially for a player who on the 9 July 2019, signed for Millwall on a long-term contract for a fee of £1,100,000
There must be a player there but I don't think has shown it for Barrow in a single game.
January Signings?

We really do not need anymore players, we have loads. Who are the best 11 though?
Just say no to VAR

Re: January Signings?
Quality over quantity. We've got a large number of attackers, strikers, wingers and there's not one of them you'd really want to see here next season. There need to be a big shake up in the summer.
As for Mahoney there is undoubted ability there but the way his career has dropped off, Blackburn to Huddersfield and now here, suggests there is a major issue. Attitude or workrate or a mixture of both, his career is only going one way unless he sorts himself out.
Think of Callum Gribben who was hailed as the next big thing at Man Utd, came here and has now disappeared from football completely.

Re: January Signings?
Now isn’t that just the question. The fact there are so few nailed on starters shows the real inconsistency of the squad. For me, the only ones who warrant a place week in, week out are Canavan, Vassell, Jackson (although he’s been missing as of late), Spence and Gotts. Duru looks good too, but obviously still learning.
Re: January Signings?
For me its -
Farman
Duru Vassel Canavan Tensia Jackson
Spence Harrison Gotts
Fletcher
Smith
Would not be surprised if 2 leave and 1 comes in by Monday night

Adam said in the Barrow Social that we have never played the same side in consecutive games this season.
Maybe that is a big reason why we are where we are in the league?

Need a group that's consistent and together, chopping and changing will not help with results and probably wouldn't help with player mentality not knowing if your in or your out?
