Re: Potential new investor(s)
I was just getting into the interview then !!!, when's part 2 ?, listening to these interviews I often think WHY do they do it ( but glad they do !) , perhaps all these people that still think it should be £10 to watch EFL 2 should realise what's involved but I'm usually not shocked by most things but that 2.5 million wage bill is still frightening!, thanks Adam for sharing this and asking such brilliant questions!

Personally I wasn’t shocked by the wage bill. It’s what I expected for a competitive team in league 2. Players and agents want their cut of the so called “ increased”” tv dealblue nige wrote: ↑Tue Mar 11, 2025 6:07 pm I was just getting into the interview then !!!, when's part 2 ?, listening to these interviews I often think WHY do they do it ( but glad they do !) , perhaps all these people that still think it should be £10 to watch EFL 2 should realise what's involved but I'm usually not shocked by most things but that 2.5 million wage bill is still frightening!, thanks Adam for sharing this and asking such brilliant questions!
A number of our players I would imagine will be £1500-£2k a week some maybe more.
Spending big though does not always mean success for example Carlisle are paying a 32 year old player £364,000 a season and he is currently out injured having made only 13 appearances this season

And also supporters wanting the Squad/Staff all training in Barrow 4 days a week, you could charge £10 and have a fully local based Squad made up of local players but supporters would still moan at getting beat every week, but you would still have the cost of away travel, Good interview but sounds the owners can`t wait for new investment to help them because this can`t go on much longer.blue nige wrote: ↑Tue Mar 11, 2025 6:07 pm I was just getting into the interview then !!!, when's part 2 ?, listening to these interviews I often think WHY do they do it ( but glad they do !) , perhaps all these people that still think it should be £10 to watch EFL 2 should realise what's involved but I'm usually not shocked by most things but that 2.5 million wage bill is still frightening!, thanks Adam for sharing this and asking such brilliant questions!

Paul Hornby saying "two or three years ahead where is the next money coming from" The current owners don't have unlimited funds and reading between the lines I would say without further investment in 2-3 years time we could be in trouble.behind the goals wrote: ↑Tue Mar 11, 2025 6:30 pmAnd also supporters wanting the Squad/Staff all training in Barrow 4 days a week, you could charge £10 and have a fully local based Squad made up of local players but supporters would still moan at getting beat every week, but you would still have the cost of away travel, Good interview but sounds the owners can`t wait for new investment to help them because this can`t go on much longer.blue nige wrote: ↑Tue Mar 11, 2025 6:07 pm I was just getting into the interview then !!!, when's part 2 ?, listening to these interviews I often think WHY do they do it ( but glad they do !) , perhaps all these people that still think it should be £10 to watch EFL 2 should realise what's involved but I'm usually not shocked by most things but that 2.5 million wage bill is still frightening!, thanks Adam for sharing this and asking such brilliant questions!

So, reading between the lines then. About three years further down the line, 'IF' no new investment is forthcoming, its more than likely gonna be goodbye Hawaii !

Regarding the wage bill,it is frightening the amount certain players in our club are getting paid have been getting paid with no end result.blue nige wrote: ↑Tue Mar 11, 2025 6:07 pm I was just getting into the interview then !!!, when's part 2 ?, listening to these interviews I often think WHY do they do it ( but glad they do !) , perhaps all these people that still think it should be £10 to watch EFL 2 should realise what's involved but I'm usually not shocked by most things but that 2.5 million wage bill is still frightening!, thanks Adam for sharing this and asking such brilliant questions!
Hopefully the owners have now got a grip of the situation and have now got the right people in charge to do due diligence on a player before he is offered a contract, so we no longer get caught out by the wide boys who want to treat Barrow AFC as a cash cow.
Quite a few of the high earners have been loaned out .I have seen how much they are getting paid and it,s ridiculous.
Some of our best performing players who are still in the first team are getting paid the lower amounts.I,m just glad that some of those high earners will no longer be at the club next season.
Football agents have a lot to answer for.I think their percentage should be based on how a player they recommend performs. That way it would prevent the ripping of of clubs by these agents.
The current Man Utd manager has already said some of his current players are overated and don,t deserve to be paid as much as they are getting paid.

Re: Potential new investor(s)
Good honest interview from Paul. Does sound worrying in a few years without investment. I wonder how much this new tv deal has gained/lost us. It was good that Carlisle sold their allocation last time we were on TV.
And i get fed up of listening to people saying I hope Carlisle and Morecambe go down and I point out Gillingham bought 60 odd, Carlisle 900+ how much revenue would we loose if they are in the NL and they go oh yeah. Long as we are safe I want local derby's to get the money into the club.

Re: Potential new investor(s)
Off the top of my head I would say the new tv deal has not gained us very much. It was only £79k more than the previous deal, Both the Carlisle and Doncaster games suffered due to TV coverage. The hospitality for the Carlisle game was originally sold out but due to TV coverage on a Thursday night some cancelled. A gate of 4200 was IMO a good 800 or more down to what we would have got on the Saturday with no tv coverage. The Doncaster switch probably cost us 500 on the gate too and the clash with Champions league football did not help. As Tony Shearer said last Friday the only real benefit of the new tv deal is coverage states side for EFL 2 Clubs. He also said we don't get one penny more from sky if they choose your game for live tv like they did for the Carlisle game.sambino wrote: ↑Tue Mar 11, 2025 8:30 pm Good honest interview from Paul. The 2/3 years comment is referring to the money they get from the league and what level it will be at
They aren’t planning on pulling the plug
Panic not

I don't think anyones thinking that Adam but these guys cannot go on pumping the types of money in that they are indefinitely. Another 2-3 years of doing what they are doing is bound to hit their personal finances hence why new investment in the next 2-3 years is vital.
