Great comeback, shades of MK Dons away last season.
There wasn't a lot in the game we started well in both halves I thought and looked decent without creating too much, but Wimbledon started to take control but again without really troubling us. Some of our passing and final ball let us down at times when we got into good areas and Wimbledon had that bit of extra quality in the final third with Stevens and Browne. Two well taken goals for them the first maybe unfortunate did Canavan slip or he was fouled? After the first though they grew stronger and it was hard to see us coming back, even more so at 2-0.

We've got a bit more resolve now under Whing than we did two months ago though and the effort was there. The first goal a dreadful corner from Wimbledon but a great counter attack, quick incisive passing good touch from Acquah and a good run and finish from Campbell. It looked too late but the groans around the ground when 6 minutes were added on showed how nervous they were. In the end route one from Farman, good hold up from Acquah and a pull back from Fletcher to Mahoney for a very well taken goal not many would have controlled that low into the net with that power. Unexpected but not totally undeserved. Wimbledon didn't look anything like a third place team to me, totally open four first goal and Stevens and Browne aside there was nothing between the teams.

Re. Cameron and Newby criticisms, they're giving their all but Cameron just never looks convincing and Williams and Vassell would both get in front of him but unfortunately are injured, as is Barnes so he's there as we've got no one else. Newby is far too lightweight and we've known for some time he's not up to it and I'd like to think we'll be looking at better for next season. Acquah and Mahoney have shown ability but nowhere near often enough and need to do it more consistently. Campbell made a big difference when he came on and if he can be kept for next season along with Spence, throw in Fletcher, Williams and Gotts and I don't think that's a bad midfield. We just lack a bit out wide and upfront and at the back. I'd say after a wobble Farman looks closer to where he was and if he does stay I wouldn't be against it.

The injury thing is a concern though not sure where or what was up with Williams but assume it was another training ground sustained one, that has to be looked at. Starting to show signs of the grit and resolve that Whing was wanting and he seems to be getting it now so well done there.

As for Elliot Newby, his consistent selection under three managers over the last two seasons tells its own story. Seven assists so far this season (exceeded only by Ben Jackson, 9) five last season (exceeded only by Kian Spence, 6) add to the factual narrative of those without an axe to grind.

It’s actually 8 assists - hasn’t been accredited the Notts County one where he pulled the ball back for Spence

Without “quoting” all of Scott5s post….all of that is pretty much spot on, hard to disagree with any of it.

Putting aside all of the - who’s out of contract and who’s leaving talk, it’d be nice if some of them players (after being involved with the improvements of the last five or six weeks) can see a good reason for signing another contract for next season.

I have a similar question - I usually watch the full match replay on the club website, but that has no commentary. The highlights and extended highlights have the Sky commentary, but I really would like to watch the full replay with Adam's commentary. I noticed that there was a clip on YouTube with Adam's commentary, so is there a full replay with it on?

I would say in Newby's case we just haven't had an out and out left back really for some time since Brough left and that Newby has ended up there by default, he's certainly not a wingback and not built for defending, too lightweight and can't tackle.
Tiensa started brightly last season until his injury and then that opened the way for Newby, and when he first arrived he was a squad player behind Brough and Whitfield.
Can't fault his effort but we need better in both wingbacks. Assists are a funny stat it can bounce off your backside to someone to score and it counts as an assist. I'd say for the amount of times that Newby gets in good positions his delivery isn't good enough and he needs to improve on that, not like Jackson or Brough of old.

Defensively he's not great either cost us goals at Swindon and Newport to name two recently but hard to be critical as he's not a natural defender think he actually started out as a striker.
