Local Council appears to have stepped and offered Accy £140k to keep the academy going for another 12 months.

Chairman Andy Holt has stepped down but has committed to putting in £250k per season for the foreseeable future. They will be very much with us therefore next season albeit operating on their usual shoe string budget. They are not a Morecambe by any means.

But in the longer term they face big issues when their current sources of funding dry up. Like the rest of us.

I think they've declined the council offer.
A major problem seems to be that their new (3 years) function suite which was supposed to generate significant income was constructed without appropriate planning consent. Local residents are up in arms about the noise.

Yes no love lost between the club and the council. Recent fracas seems to stem from the club having their entertainment licence withdrawn by the council following complaints from residents. Club is now saying stuff your grant. If we can’t generate revenue your money will be wasted. Holt no longer speaking on behalf of the club. Bit of a mess.

As we are now under the county jurisdiction of Furness and Westmorland Council and local jurisdiction of Barrow Borough Council, the term 'Cumbria' is becoming rather anachronistic as time goes by. As an aside, older people sometimes say it states 'Lancashire' on their birth certificate - well check again. It doesn't say that on mine circa 1956 only stating 'Borough of Barrow-in-Furness'.

No Lancashire on my birth certificate either but, as previously noted, Lancashire was not the admin area for Barrow, which had County Borough status until 1974 when money, decisions and power started to ebb north from Furness to Carlisle.

If not careful, it will continue if the government continues to try to force the new authorities to approve a mayoral authority for 'Cumbria'. I wonder where that might be based...?

If he’s a coach then he will only be needed for away travel.

Sadly yes his time alongside myself is over - he may make the odd cameo appearance if opportunity allows but I’ll have someone else alongside me as a main stay next campaign.

Chuffed for him though - an opportunity to put his coaching abilities into use with a semi professional side, and in all honesty I think my press boxes loss is most definitely Kendal towns gain
