He's coaching a team over in the states I believe. Not likely he,ll want to give that up to come and coach Barrow.

Even the best managers in the world can't transform mediocre players into world beaters. Or decent Division 2 sides.
We have one of the worst teams I've seen wearing Barrow AFC colours.

The problem doesn't reside with the manager.
It's the players we have at our disposal. The majority of whom wouldn't get into a National League North side!

Last night, against Tranmere, Ben Whitfield - one of the few worthy to wear the shirt - provided countless crosses into the box. Most teams would have been 2 or 3 up at half time.

We have a totally impotent strike force. Josh Gordon gives 100% and is a work horse but he's no more than a nuisance to the opposition. His positional sense around the penalty box is poor and his finishing prowness even worse! But who else have we got?

I feel sorry for Andy Whing. He did his best with a bunch of mediocre players. Good luck to him.

Who's next for the 'Poisoned Chalice'?

I doubt it will be anyone of that stature. Finances will dictate no doubt. I suspect somebody like ex Alty boss Phil Parkinson Manchester based could come into the reckoning

I disagree that we have mediocre players, I think the players we have are more than capable, perhaps putting them in the right places at the right time might go some way to changing fortunes. We do need an out and out goal munching machine but we also need good service too.. sod trying to play this tippy happy football, sideways and back, would rather see an attack minded approach using the half decent wingers we have! It's a gamble, it's basic but I would rather see a push than a pause..

Playing a formation to our strengths, and players in their natural position, is a good start.

Ben Jackson the prime example. He finished last season joint 3rd with the most assists in the league, when he was playing fullback. This season, he’s a makeshift centre back.

He’s struggled with form, for sure, but I don’t think we are getting the best out of him in that role.

Just one example, there are more, but you can see where I’m coming from.

To be fair, money isn't the driving factor and I think someone just giving him an opportunity is all he wants! He's got a few quid and invested well( apart from missing opportunity with barrow) and it's just about football! Not saying he's gonna be free but he's a northern lad, pedigree on the pitch, good head on his shoulders and maybe, just maybe worth a call
