Hate to say this Mark, but you're correct which is frightening to be honest at this moment in time I'm sick of everything if we could toss a coin on whether we stay up or go down I'd take it ,this season is unbelievable but for the wrong reasons!

I know it’s not football manager where you can just release everyone but there really isn’t many at all you would ideally keep for the squad next season if we do somehow stay up; 4 or 5 at the absolute most

Re: Barrow v Harrogate Town match thread
The trouble is a lot of these young players have no fight in them when the going gets tough. The amount of back passing ,sideways passing and ducking out of challenges was unbelievable. The crowd supported them all the way through and got rewarded with mediocrity.
That needs to change. We need fighters and at the moment they are invisible.Must try harder.

Re: Barrow v Harrogate Town match thread
That's down to movement/ coaching we play 3 at the back this involves passing it around, we can't play this ,it constantly means people won't run into positions because if there's one bad pass you'll be left wide open!Methuselah wrote: ↑Wed Feb 18, 2026 12:39 pm The trouble is a lot of these young players have no fight in them when the going gets tough. The amount of back passing ,sideways passing and ducking out of challenges was unbelievable. The crowd supported them all the way through and got rewarded with mediocrity.

I and others said if we carry on with this formation we'd be in trouble, I was criticised for not supporting the manager/ board but because of their decisions we're in this position it's NOT going to change anytime soon !,Harrogate were not great BUT they played with a back 4 and kept their shape we had players who were square pegs in round holes and it showed, Dino probably wants a structure like Harrogate played but we're stuck with what we've got !

We played with a back 4 for 75% of the game. Agree. It's another of the numpty obsessions here.Mark Johnson wrote: ↑Tue Feb 17, 2026 11:38 pm Newby had a good game tonight whether he is local or not.. and he doesn't get away with anything for being local, in fact it is the opposite. People call him out for being local whenever they perceive him having a bad game. Tonight wasn't one of those bad games from him. And far from it. He was one of the few who did well tonight.
Re: Barrow v Harrogate Town match thread
Agree with that.Beanmuncher wrote: ↑Tue Feb 17, 2026 10:18 pm Whilst disappointed with the result tonight I’m staying positive for the future games. Dino has seen first hand what happens when the run of play does not go our way and we make schoolboy mistakes. Yes, Newbs should have slotted this chances home; Yes, Thompson should have thought more about what he was doing; Yes we hit the crossbar. At the end of the game we came away with a loss - at home. But it wasn’t for the want of trying in my opinion.
We can’t go from lauding our team on a Saturday to calling them all the useless swines on Tuesday. Consistency from the team and their loyal fans - us - should be our focus.
Dino will fix this - I am confident.
Re: Barrow v Harrogate Town match thread
Just watched Dino’s post match interview. All I can say is he must have been watching a different game to me.
Just hopeless. We’ll be bottom at end of season. So sad.

No we didn't we made the substitutions in the 40th minute that's no where near 75% !Hitthebar22 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 18, 2026 2:02 pmWe played with a back 4 for 75% of the game. After the first half subs.blue nige wrote: ↑Wed Feb 18, 2026 1:02 pm

So what's your point, Harrogate barely troubled us in the second half, but Dino had taken off Barkhuizen ( who can't play wingback but he's a natural winger ) so we were left with Mahoney and Gordon ( who I don't know where he was playing) but kept drifting out there ! and Newby out left!

They changed to a back 4 when wyll went down for a tactical break in the first half which was before the substitutions were madeblue nige wrote: ↑Wed Feb 18, 2026 3:43 pmNo we didn't we made the substitutions in the 40th minute that's no where near 75% !Hitthebar22 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 18, 2026 2:02 pm

Re: Barrow v Harrogate Town match thread
It’s all down to quality of players and recruitment. That is the make or break of any side. You need 100% effort AND quality. This is more important than who is the Manager/ Coach and regardless of formations.
If you have effort and lack quality = struggle
If you have quality and lack effort = struggle
Then you also need 8 out of 11 on top of their game, every game, to give yourself a chance. If more than three are having stinkers, it’s too much for the rest to carry. Yes the back pass was punished last night but there was still 80+ minutes to get back into it and we fell short.
If we escape the drop there has to be a whole new approach to recruitment.

Jonty I agree BUT woods is in charge of recruitment, we all knew in January the recruitment was again crap yet Paul Hornby thought that we'd recruited well so what chance of we got ?Jonty wrote: ↑Wed Feb 18, 2026 4:56 pm It’s all down to quality of players and recruitment. I agree mate, hence a review of recruitment is required, whatever the outcome of the season is.blue nige wrote: ↑Wed Feb 18, 2026 5:13 pmJonty I agree BUT woods is in charge of recruitment, we all knew in January the recruitment was again crap yet Paul Hornby thought that we'd recruited well so what chance of we got ?Jonty wrote: ↑Wed Feb 18, 2026 4:56 pm It’s all down to quality of players and recruitment.
