But didn't Farman go because he was high budget. It's been said repeatedly that we don't have a relegation budget, so the team in front of Stanway should be adequate to keep us in the league but it really doesn't look like it is.

It's about £250,000 that's it we'll lose well over £750,00 , it cost Oldham £3,500,000 to get out of the National League ( it's in their accounts) ,Carlisle have treble to what we can afford and they're struggling we'll be lucky to make top 10 !
hell fire, didn't realise that !!
EFL League Two clubs get about £1.2m–£1.4m central distribution per season. National League clubs do not receive any direct annual Premier League payment and next to nothing TV deal. There is a financial cliff edge between EFL and National League. Go down and we are fexxked

It,s been known from the beginning of the season that we needed defenders and here we are getting caught out again.I rest my case.

Williams, Foley, Smith and Whitfield would make a massive difference to this squad for the fight ahead.
Stanway who I do like but theres been several incidents this season which has costs us goals where a more experienced GK would have done better so I think a change is needed now. 3 absolutely huge games next up (2 at home) and all 3 to teams in the bottom half. Pick up 5 - 9 points then great, 3 or less is just not good enough now. 2 games in hand but we need points !!!!!

I’d agree, I’d have kept Farman on for another year and offered him a player coaching role. He wasn’t immune from mistakes either though and Stanway has saved us on a few occasions and is still learning on that position. Where we are is not because of him and id be reluctant even to criticise him too much for today as it was a team failing that we ended up hanging on and ultimately blowing it from the position that we had been in.
Maybe time to give a Barrett a go though or Winterbottom if he’s fit and take Stanway out of the firing line?

Strange to say it but in some ways we need to fall into the bottom two. I feel like that is the only remaining factor that could give this lot the kick up the arse they need.

tictactoe wrote: ↑Sat Feb 21, 2026 2:50 pm I cannot believe it. 0-2 up, looked at full time and 3-2. Absolutely shocking and can only see relegation. Didn’t see the game so can’t comment on Stanway today, but how he has been touted for a move is beyond me as I don’t think he is worth paying money for, more mistakes/bad games than good and time to give someone else a go. Defence also questionable so not just picking out Stanway but don’t know the answer to our defence problem as none of them seem up for it.

How long is this manager going to get?
Zero point in changing the manager, the problem is clearly this awful group of players. Besides, we will need to save every penny we can get as the National League will be a huge struggle without league funding and the naturally lower crowds that will come with it.
It was tongue in cheek should’ve made more clear. I haven’t agreed with the manager choices as don’t think they’re proven enough, however we can all see the root of all evil is the players aren’t up to it, doesn’t matter who is in charge. These dead wood should have been shipped out and even young lower league players would show more desire and will to win.

I really get frustrated with this team.So many false dawns. We get so close and then blow it by not being able to defend.

We did try to park the bus but to try and do it for 45 minutes is asking a lot of a defence with 2 inexperienced defenders and a slow canavan and a winger doesn't cut it really!

We should have played further up the pitch as soon as we didn't we let Fleetwood back in it !, we should have got a point but when you're down you're down!

There’s a difference between effort and quality. Need both to get results.

The great save from Lynch from Fletchers shot in the second half was the turning point imo. Up until then we had been fine but once again the right hand side and weak goalkeeping on his near post cost us.
