Yes he did but I had the feeling the board didn't believe we were going to be relegated Paul Hornby seemed quite smug about it saying we only need 5 wins and 5 draws!Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Sat Apr 25, 2026 6:15 pmShearer said at the last Q&A that Paul Hornby had already “ crushed the numbers” in the event of us being relegated.

They need to find the money to get an experienced head in to make a plan for the football side since Wilds 3 year plan we seem to have been aimlessScott5 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 25, 2026 6:17 pmWe’d have lost even if there was something still at stake. Such a poor team all round. Have to laugh still at Hornbys comments about them being good enough and us having a good transfer window, it was clear to every man and his dog where the squad was lacking and what was needed ie. Experienced players and a manager. Instead we got kids nowhere near good enough and Paul Gallagher.Mark Johnson wrote: ↑Sat Apr 25, 2026 5:21 pm What could have been a cup final next Saturday has turned in to a pathetic bow out from league football.

Much of the infrastructure at the club has been non league standard at best during our six seasons in the EFL. You can only get away with it for so long. No new investment has not helped us but on saying that the owners have contributed to our downfall with poor use of their own investment into the club

The attendances will plummet unless we are winning. We will receive circa £450k Sky parachute payment for relegation, down from circa £1.3m. Operational costs likely to be similar to EFL. It’s a brutal league and looking at the teams in it, we will struggle again unless we get player and management recruitment absolutely right.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Sat Apr 25, 2026 6:15 pmShearer said at the last Q&A that Paul Hornby had already “ crushed the numbers” in the event of us being relegated.

Clearly AI, but that shirt design the players are wearing in the background is way better than the garbage they’ve been wearing all season.
Even if most haven’t been fit to wear it!

I am with you PJ. I have been a supporter for over 70 years and I have to say that this is the most disappointed, not to say disgusted, I have ever been with a Barrow team. I think there are few good players in there somewhere, but collective mentality is the weakest I have ever seen.

Losing without trying. Very hard to take.
Disgusting. Sickening. Unforgivable.
Re: Cambridge United v Barrow match thread
That’s because Kelly told him all was good and he went with that. “You don’t need to bring too many in, you are at risk of having different groups forming and too many not playing” or something like that.Scott5 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 25, 2026 6:17 pmWe’d have lost even if there was something still at stake. Re: Cambridge United v Barrow match thread
Not posted all season but kept an eye on the forum, tonight I feel sick after yet another spineless performance from our so called players, the other teams at the bottom have also been poor all season but have at least shown heart and desire these last 3/4 games, I will always support the Club and will be there next week/season, it was a dream to get promoted to the league and really thought of the many fans who missed out, hopefully the younger ones will still support the Club. The following weeks will be interesting to see which way the Club will go in the future, to all the Older fans who post on here please stick with us we might hate the squad at the moment but we need to support the Club.

Re: Cambridge United v Barrow match thread
When we got relegated in 1972 we finished third from bottom but this lot are likely to end rock bottom. What has amazed me the most this season is (a) our lack of fighting spirit and (b) lack of ability, basics like corners, free kicks the amount of times we’ve over hit them then there’s blasting the ball over the bar when faced with an open goal. The incident that actually made me laugh out loud at the time was Ben Whitfield’s attempted clearance at Crawley. He was around thirty yards from goal attempting to clear the ball up field and he ended up giving away a corner. We sadly have players who can’t get the basics right. I’d love to call myself a professional footballer but I can’t because I haven’t the necessary skill set, sadly neither have half of this current squad.Jim wrote: ↑Sat Apr 25, 2026 6:24 pmI am with you PJ. Re: Cambridge United v Barrow match thread
This has been embarassing but the damage was done in the summer..
Terrible decisions by the board with managers and to double Ian Wood's job.
Ian Wood must go. Appalling recruitment of injury prone characterless players on the way down.
The players. Fearful, disgraceful and despite the words, no heart. A disgrace.
6 years and the combination has killed a dream.
We deserved better than this I think. The saddest things are we have little to show and wont be missed in the slightest.
Folk behind the scenes of the club who might lose the pittance they are paid and the fans, those I feel for.

Why did they have a night out for being sh*t? I thought they used to have a reward system in place, 40 points night out, 50 points something like sky diving?
