Second,stick with him through the ups and downs - look at Harrogate's recent results when they looked doomed. I know the manager is the owner's son, but most clubs would have sacked Weaver long ago.

Personally I was disappointed we didn’t stick with Dino. We could easily have had another couple of wins when he was here but the players lost their bottle and it seems like they just didn’t like him.

I’d like to see us keep Fletcher, MJ, Winterbottom, McCann (don’t see it happening) and Rose for next season. Don’t think Gordon would sign and Newby might be okay as a rotation player in the national league, but the rest can lump it.

Jonty this is brilliant it's how we all should think next season I'm sick of being second best we have all got to keep positive believe!

Agree Nige, we don't want to slip back into our old mindsets that are never far from the surface. Every time we doubt we can achieve something or we think we are not “big” enough, just come back to this. With the right recruitment and mindset it can be done. Remember Evatt saying that when he first met his players they couldn't string three passes together. He had us scoring “20 pass” team goals, pulling the opposition all over the place.

A new manager who is disciplined, gets us fit which means no more crock signings, new fitness coach and whole new set up. We’ve been nowhere near fit enough this season not just the injuries but getting around the pitch we’ve been two yards slow all season. Someone with a bit of management experience and contacts in the lower leagues, someone with a bit of drive. Someone who will not be frightened to drop players and move a few on that need to. In all honesty there’s no one I’d say we would really miss. A few may find the national league suits them more but I’ve never known such a weak minded, half hearted group. The lack of desire to run and do the basics than no one can stop you from doing has been astounding. Josh Gordon would do well at National league level and I’d certainly take him. The rest really not bothered either way they’re all replaceable. Quite how we’re going to move some of the dross on that are on two year contracts I don’t know. Hope their relegation clauses are substantial.

Josh Gordon isn’t our player, so will be heading back to Walsall at the end of the season.

His contract at Walsall is up this Summer, so if he’s released, we may be able to sign him, IF the new manager wants him and IF Josh wants to come back to Barrow himself.

He is 32 this year, so a step down would make sense.

I think that very often you can see a player has a talent in an instant, the first touch on the ball, the control. I saw it with Mahoney the first time I watched him play for us. Quality. And then, just a few weeks ago against Bromley he weaved some magic in the penalty area that led to Josh Gordon's equaliser. It is very obvious to me that he is a talented footballer . . . . .

That’s the problem he has all the ability in the world you can see why he was at championship level on £18k a week allegedly not that long ago. But you can also see why he’s now a non league player or soon will be…that penalty miss against Harrogate last season sums him up really.
Workrate zero and has contributed nowhere near enough goals or assists. Don’t think he’s been used in his best position further forwards but that doesn’t excuse the jogging around and just not looking interested a lot of the time and he’s been given enough chances.

Harper is another one of a similar mould, technically way above this level but lacks the heart and desire which is why he too has fallen down the leagues.

If they and a few other more talented players played with Josh Gordon’s spirit and heart we wouldn’t be where we are.

Mahoney cut that post-game interview recently. Where he said "the fans say I don't work hard enough, but I think I do". After only starting 1 in 20 games, whilst on £3k+ per week. This just about sums him up.

Harper damaged his cruciate ligaments, and lost all mobility, years back.
