I'm no longer that confidence we will stop up, which is such a shame. After years of people saying we would end up with the lowest crowds in the league the people of Barrow have turned out in force despite the fact we are very poor.

We have real potential to build something here and it's a real shame if we were to go down. We are supposed to have a top 7 budget and the so called best manager in the league.

Still time to pull it around and just hope that Oldham and stevenage don't start picking up again.

Well Bingo, I personally think we could well go down because, although hope springs eternal with nine games left to play yesterday proved that this lot,including the manager, have just not got what it takes to keep us in this league. I still think Oldham, and/or possibly stevenage will 'just' pull the necessary points out of the bag to survive.

Don't think of Cooper as giving Inspirational team talks it's happened at home at nearly every game Jonty the guy's not going to change now !

Inspirational team talks? They shouldn’t be needed and thats not the point I’m making. When the training and the game prep ends the responsibility shifts to the players.

They shouldn’t need inspiring to be “up for it”. That should be there. The players say it themselves in interviews - ie Matt Platt the other day “we know what we need to do” and then they don’t show the intensity needed from the first whistle.

The little fella up front was getting absolutely no joy out of our back line and was crying out for some big physical support.

That’s what Holloway is meant to be there for, but yesterday we decided to make him run the channels rather than let him be a big lamp post upfront.

Probably mentioned elsewhere but when we’re knocking it around the back line the players were always facing across the pitch so it went sideways/backwards. Face forward for Cowps sake.

Cooper needs to be put in front of the fans to explain himself. He can't expect the backing of the fans if his team's performances are this bad and his gameplans aren't clear. Right now I think he is protected by the distance from his ultimate bosses (that's us btw).

I'm not sure I've seen a more angrier player on the pitch than Paul Farman. Constantly moaning to anyone within earshot. Probably one of those types that is a completely different person off the pitch. However it doesn't help the defence having a seething mess in goals behind them.

Perhaps that was his audition for the manager's job!

Lumsden talking about the Barrow performance, said we lacked ability, lacked togetherness, and lack of spirit and he fears for us but we might get lucky with Oldham & Scunthorpe also being poor, is he right about the ability ,togetherness & spirit he didn`t hold back.

In a parallel universe, the game would have unfolded in exactly the same way but Farman would have come out promptly and put the ball in the clay pit to prevent the opportunity for a second away goal and Banks's second half free kick would have gone an inch or two inside the goal rather than outside.

After the game, in his expert analysis, Mr Lumsden (who has seen Barrow play how many times this season?) would have blamed Carlisle' s defeat upon the Holker Street pitch being a metre wider than Brunton Park but said that in his day the players would have sorted it out in the dressing room anyway.

Great crowd and atmosphere but in the end they were silenced and subdued by a lethargic and poor performance.

Two pretty poor teams on show and little between them but you could see Carlisle have a bit of confidence from recent results, worked hard and seemed to win far too many first and second balls or the 'bits' as Cooper called it. At the end you could see the spirit and togetherness with Simpson their players and fans, that's earned them a few points.

First goal comes from our throw in on the right, not the first time we lost it straight from a throw in down the line with no movement. 10 seconds later it was in our net, Carlisle player getting onto Brough's clearance ahead of White and Glennon and catching Farman out with a surprise early shot.

The second was comical, Platt dithered just needed to clear it but even then there was nothing really on for the Carlisle player had Farman stayed on his line. He seemed a bit too hyped up and got a ridiculous booking when he'd won a free kick. Has had some good games recently but yesterday wasn't his best.

That aside Carlisle didn't create a lot we caused our downfall and probably created the better chances. First half was drab, too slow, too many backwards passes and Banks and White too deep they've no need to be that deep when we're playing 3 at the back - then there's a gap in midfield and Rooney and the strikers are 20-30 yards apart. Midfield didn't compete enough either for me, second to everything.

Second half we started well, unlucky to hit the bar with Platt and then Holloway should've scored. The second goal probably summed us up, the reaction after was just silence on the pitch. No one leading or geeing up the players, deathly silent. Nothing from the bench either which wasn't helped with the manager being in the stand. Banks scored and we had a couple of chances after that but never put them under any sustained pressure. Their defence didn't look great and their keeper very suspect to me but Holloway and Gordon didn't do nearly enough to trouble them.

It was a performance similar to the Bradford and Crawley home games, can't put my finger on it but something is missing. The effort is there although yesterday was very flat and lacklusture, two weeks ago at Bristol it was a different story and couldn't fault anyone. They aren't or weren't following Coopers game plan and have to take responsibility as he has. He's paid with his job and now they need to step up and show a bit more.
