So you're saying that those fellas are sex offenders and drug dealers? Have you any evidence of this? As that is some accusation
It’s not an accusation. It’s making a point that there’s issues for parents to be aware of. Any adult that is meeting up with children at a football match in an unofficial capacity is very strange if you ask me.
I highly doubt they are socialising outside of football. I think the youngsters are more tagging along when inside the ground.

I agree that parents should be worried due to ongoing world issues regarding the issues you raised but it is no different to when the young lads are out and about after school on a weekday to on a Saturday afternoon down at Holker street

I would suggest that there is a huge difference. The children have paid to be in Holker Street (or invited by way of a free ticket) and as such the club becomes in loco parentis to a greater or lesser extent. As I said earlier, it's all fine and dandy to turn a blind eye but, in the world in which we live, the moment something goes wrong you can bet everyone would be down on the club like a ton of bricks.

It's really sad that we even have to consider such things but these days we do.

Guessing that's why the policies are in place. If a young person or to that extent a parent or guardian chooses not to follow it. Both Barrow AFC and EFL have done their best. Also I'm sure Barrow don't want to be a crèche and be responsible for all the young persons running around

How will it be enforced? Will we need to take a birth certificate?

Given that the town has had issues with sex offenders and county lines drugs, I would be very wary about who my child is meeting up with and what they’re doing.
What so taking your nephew to football is associated with noncinng. Think your computer needs checking fantasising over men abusing boys at the football.

It's all about Barrow AFC and EFL ensuring safeguarding policy is in place... and monitored the best they can. If supporters choose to ignore it or cheat the systems. The clubs and EFL conscience is clear if anything happens..same as u18 using fake iD for pubs and clubs

Clearly not. If you can’t tell the difference between taking a nephew to the football (which is what they’re asking you to do) and children meeting up with unrelated adults and taking pictures which are then posted on social media then you need to take a serious look at yourself.

Safeguarding is about preventing risks to vulnerable people, that’s what the club are doing. I can’t see why anybody in the right mind would have an issue with that.

based on what events that have happened to initiate this decision it's bullsh** and everyone knows that !, and what are these risks? please share them and WHY didn't you bring them to the attention of the club?

The risks are with society in general. There is people out there that take advantage of children, you can see that by numerous well-publicised reports which are common place. Football isn’t an escape from that, it’s an event that children attend and if they’re alone there is a risk.

Safeguarding aims to prevent children from coming into contact with people who may take advantage of them. Any adult working and volunteering with children needs to be checked for that reason. If something is put in place to protect kids, then I’ll happily support it.

All this does is enable children to be able to go to a known adult should something happen. Not a great deal to ask.

I am confused now! Under 7s get in free accompanied by an adult; and 12 -16 yrs buy a special ticket, presumably at the U18 price. So what do 7- 11yrs do? I'm guessing they, too, must be accompanied by an adult at the U18 price.

Sensible resolution, however, how many times recently have the club made a decision about something and then had to back track following fans unhappiness about said decision. Maybe time to think things through properly before making announcements and then back tracking?
everyone is entitled to their opinion, deal with it
