If anything it has destabilised the club at a vital stage of the season. Looks more and more like a panic measure with no clear plan for a replacement. In the meantime who takes charge? Someone who was assistant manager at non league Hartlepool a couple of months ago with a career win percentage of 33%!Way to go Barrow! 1500 tonight?

Re: Whing replacement?
They need a strong character and someone who can be heard from the touchlines. I know there’s the saying “when they cross that white line it’s on them”, yes, true, but Managerial presence from the sides is important and it can bring that extra winning edge to the team that is needed. Whing (last game in charge) looked and sounded out of ideas. “Baffled” as he said.

This. He had to go, my only argument is it could’ve been done sooner and the signs were there 2 or 3 months ago prior to Rob Kelly coming back that all was not well. I think the Stanway and Gordon interviews are quite telling too where they talk about now having a calming and more experienced voice, and not being so isolated upfront.Jonty wrote: ↑Fri Dec 19, 2025 11:00 am They need a strong character and someone who can be heard from the touchlines. Re: Whing replacement?
Whoever we get from now on our transfer strategy HAS to change, we're stuck with 3 at the back till January for 2 reasons the 3 central defender's are too slow to cover the wingbacks, hence the wingbacks ( I'll use that description lightly ) are scared to push up ,if you notice we rarely push both up because one has to cover!, we made a massive mistake not getting a mobile central defender, we had the brilliant MCcelland and then we had Vassell, both could cover and we're good in the air,and as everyone knows no right fullback/wingback until then we are really stuck formation wise ,I always think our formation looks un even/ lop sided, square pegs in round holes and players just filling in ,it's totally bizarre unless we change personnel in defence we'll struggle to stay up ,I sincerely hope I'm wrong!

That should have been Kerr Smith, I guess, but what you say is on the money.blue nige wrote: ↑Fri Dec 19, 2025 11:25 am Whoever we get from now on our transfer strategy HAS to change, we're stuck with 3 at the back till January for 2 reasons the 3 central defender's are too slow to cover the wingbacks, hence the wingbacks ( I'll use that description lightly ) are scared to push up ,if you notice we rarely push both up because one has to cover!, we made a massive mistake not getting a mobile central defender, we had the brilliant MCcelland and then we had Vassell, both could cover and we're good in the air,and as everyone knows no right fullback/wingback until then we are really stuck formation wise ,I always think our formation looks un even/ lop sided, square pegs in round holes and players just filling in ,it's totally bizarre unless we change personnel in defence we'll struggle to stay up ,I sincerely hope I'm wrong!

Re: Whing replacement?
If we’d won either game against Wigan or Tranmere Whing would still be manager no doubt.
Still in the cup or a good 3 points in league would have given him more time.
Losing both games really did seal his fate.

Re: Whing replacement?
I think his fate was sealed earlier, even with the odd win the overall performances in games haven’t been great and lets be honest, we’ve got away with a few, there’s no doubt about that. If there had been game on game improvement and you could see a pattern at least of what we were trying to do then that may have bought more time, ultimately though, a win against Wigan, or Tranmere would have delayed things. The next Manager has to be right, no pressure really on the decision. On the balance, and where we are as a club and the table, experience and confident head is needed.AugustusCorpa wrote: ↑Fri Dec 19, 2025 1:00 pm If we’d won either game against Wigan or Tranmere Whing would still be manager no doubt.

Fair play to Andy though via his statement.
That's was typical of the man he was, shame it didn't work out with us but I'm sure we will see him again soon

Re: Whing replacement?

Usually that suggests an announcement is imminent.

If its going to be announced shorty, I think it could well be McDonald. After all, it hasn't been that long really.

Back on
Someone must have put 60p on Noel Hunt because there’s been very little change
