Re: Whing replacement?
An excellent point raised by Dave on the Spillin' the Beans podcast pre Cheltenham around Accrington backing the manager when things got tough last season, stuck to their guns with their recruitment strategy and are looking like they won't quite be in the same trouble this season. If we were in their position we'd have made a change. They have a direction in terms of how they go about things and that is more valuable than the X amount of thousands difference in budget (Accrington being one of the few that will have a smaller budget than ours). A similar theme of discussion with regard to our own lack of direction was had on the latest Social too.
Whoever comes in next, we (club and support) need to be pulling in the same direction - and that starts with the club coming forward to highlight what the plan is. If under the new manager, head coach, whichever, the going gets tough for a spell we'll have to grit our teeth for once. We can't go on like this forever.

Re: Whing replacement?
I understand your sentiments but apart from people like myself and the other die hards, people aren't just going to keep coming to holker street to watch their team playing like an away side, they want a team to leave everything out there not just for 60 minutes, we need a team and manager to represent what we expect and I don't mean an Andy Whing giving constant sound bites about how great the fans are etc and how the players are working their socks off ,we need to see this on the pitch!Matty wrote: ↑Mon Dec 22, 2025 9:52 am An excellent point raised by Dave on the Spillin' the Beans podcast pre Cheltenham around Accrington backing the manager when things got tough last season, stuck to their guns with their recruitment strategy and are looking like they won't quite be in the same trouble this season. Spot on blue Nige.
Accrington are not great by any stretch of the imagination, but from what I have read, they give it all for the 90.
Re: Whing replacement?
3 teams. Bristol Rovers. 13th December. They lose their tenth consecutive game and are just above the relegation zone. Manager Darren Clarke sacked. 3 days later they appoint Steve Evans - a vastly experienced EFL manager. Decisive action by the BR board. Morecambe . December 6th. They lose 3-0 at home to Boston. Their 5th loss in 10 games. In the relegation zone.Board stick with manager and they win their next two games with two clean sheets. Barrow. 9th December. They lose 3-0 at home to Tranmere (three days after a great performance against Wigan in the Cup). Third league defeat in ten. Five or six teams below us in the league. Whing sacked the next day. Journeyman put in temporary charge. 12 days on just before a crucial period with 4 games in ten days there is no sign of a new manager. To me this is the worst scenario. Looks to me that the board just panicked and have no plan. If they were intent on sacking Whing they should have at least waited until they had organised a replacement.

We might never know, or we might find out if Woods or Hornby does a Radio Cumbria interview sometime soon; but I very much suspect how low the crowd was that night was a major factor, not just the result itself

If the crowd was the case THEN we really are in trouble !HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Mon Dec 22, 2025 5:14 pm We might never know, or we might find out if Woods or Hornby does a Radio Cumbria interview sometime soon; but I very much suspect how low the crowd was that night was a major factor, not just the result itself
There have been factors over the last 2 games, Friday was black Friday, people are still on shifts ( with no holidays left), Tranmere game was right after people had spent a lot going to Wigan, Kids at school, again people on shifts etc.and it wasn't great weather!
So with these factors our board should have based the decision to sack Whing purely based on results and team performances especially at home which have been dire !

I suspect it was a combination of Black Eyed Friday, Christmas shopping, and the game being on Sky.blue nige wrote: ↑Mon Dec 22, 2025 5:21 pmIf the crowd was the case THEN we really are in trouble!HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Mon Dec 22, 2025 5:14 pm We might never know, or we might find out if Woods or Hornby does a Radio Cumbria interview sometime soon; but I very much suspect how low the crowd was that night was a major factor, not just the result itself
Hopefully we won't see it that low again.

Re: Whing replacement?
The game wasn’t shown on sky as originally it was a Saturday fixture. Whoever agreed to switching to the Friday night given it was Black eye Friday needs to be had a word with. It was a ridiculous agreement and cost us financiallybluessupporter wrote: ↑Mon Dec 22, 2025 5:24 pmI suspect it was a combination of Black Eyed Friday, Christmas shopping, and the game being on Sky.

Re: Whing replacement?
But can the board win in this situation? If they'd taken someone on (too)quickly there would be people saying they've panicked in this situation tooEL CHAS wrote: ↑Mon Dec 22, 2025 4:24 pm 3 teams. Let's hope they make the right decision in due course.
