I certainly wouldn't bet on the current team without those 2 surviving in EFL2 next season.
Pete Wild has said on more than one occasion, including, as Adam says, his latest interview, that the model he was brought in to develop included that of finding talent that maybe others hadn't spotted and being able to move them on at a profit. If we do it with those 2 there's absolutely no reason why there won't be another 2 gems out there that he and Iain Wood have spotted and are courting. We supporters are going to have to accept that because from the board's point of view that way sustainability lies.
I agree, I don't see the issue, the opposite in fact as I think it's a real positive and no doubt our new training set up is a big part of making that work. Why couldn't Barrow be recognised as a place for developing talent, we have the facilities and the set-up to do that now with the investment in a sporting director and a more analytical approach to recruitment

It's been a while now since we had a handful of really valuable assets on contract that teams in the higher leagues (or ones with big budgets wanted). I think as a club that needs to be what we aim to do now, pick up players with great potential, get them playing well in a good environment and cash in, that's how we'll become sustainable. it can only be a good thing for me if you're mixing that in with an experienced core.

We also need sell on clauses if we sell players, Carlisle must be rubbing their hands will receive millions when Jarrad Braithwaite is eventually sold, but it's not always easy to convince players to extend contracts.

surely the problem is lack of service poor set pieces and crosses it`s a myth about strikers having to have pace !
No one said they have to have pace, but a striker with pace adds a different option to our attack, we had Stockton and Telford who my nanna is quicker than. Ask any defender what they are most scared of in an attacker and i bet they say pace

Yes I agree . Ben W has plenty of pace. Newby is great at carrying but his final pass is often poor and his finishing is awful (no goals and only 6 assists) . Hardly any service from right flank this year .
Newby can play on the wing and put the ball in the centre but we never have a forward there.
One horse trick but Whitfield can do that and more.
Worried he and Campbell will leave as both have been good..
Important we try to keep these two players along with Spence .

After 4 months of Wilds tenure we don't now play with wingers and Whitfield is an out and out winger. not a wing back or a striker. That being the case id be surprised if he stays

Spot on and that's the reason why Ben Whitfield won't be signing a new contract, just like on Dragons Den and for that reason Pete I'm out.

Spot on. Particularly in the lower leagues where many central defenders are players who have moved down the divisions because they have lost pace. If it were not the case, we wouldn't be pointing out the lack of pace in our own central defenders as the reason we relatively started to leak goals at the end of the season.

No point having a 10000 capacity ground including space for 2000 away fans when we are unlikely to reach those numbers often enough to justify the cost. (If someone has won the Lottery and wants to build a new stadium somewhere for the club, certainly it would be worth designing in the potential to reach such figures.

As for extra 'investment', that really isn't how it works at our level - more like an act of charity and people with the wherewithal to put money in on such terms are few and far-between. We have seen examples from Colne and Gretna upwards where a sudden stop has changed everything in the life of sports team.

Nobody has mentioned Acquah - will any clubs have seen enough of a potential to take him on this summer to develop further rather than risk the potential of him developing further and face competition (and a big increase in cost) in January/summer '25?

Instantly picks out Matt Smith who has left Salford. 24 goals- Salford player of the season. Ever present in 46 games.
"To achieve anything and to get to the Football League, we have to expect to win every game. I've got to get everyone believing that we can, and I will work hard to embed that mentality into the players, the town, the board and whoever else” Ian Evatt.

Also Elliott Watt released. He is a very decent player in L2, with a good pedigree. I wonder if he is “a good lad”?
