I agree, I don't see the issue, the opposite in fact as I think it's a real positive and no doubt our new training set up is a big part of making that work. Why couldn't Barrow be recognised as a place for developing talent, we have the facilities and the set-up to do that now with the investment in a sporting director and a more analytical approach to recruitmentMisterPleasant wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 4:26 pmPete Wild has said on more than one occasion, including, as Adam says, his latest interview, that the model he was brought in to develop included that of finding talent that maybe others hadn't spotted and being able to move them on at a profit. If we do it with those 2 there's absolutely no reason why there won't be another 2 gems out there that he and Iain Wood have spotted and are courting. We supporters are going to have to accept that because from the board's point of view that way sustainability lies.russell_anderson wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2024 3:50 pm If we lose Spence and Campbell then some very good signings will have to be made to get players of their level.
I certainly wouldn't bet on the current team without those 2 surviving in EFL2 next season.
It's been a while now since we had a handful of really valuable assets on contract that teams in the higher leagues (or ones with big budgets wanted). I think as a club that needs to be what we aim to do now, pick up players with great potential, get them playing well in a good environment and cash in, that's how we'll become sustainable. it can only be a good thing for me if you're mixing that in with an experienced core.
