Similar can be said for Andy Whing, it wasn’t great, but also unlucky with injuries at times.

I don’t think Mark Cooper was as bad as some made him out to be. He brought some good players in and was hampered by the training situation from day one which he said, even when we were going well and had a good start. We had a great cup run that year and picked up some good results against the better teams, but it was a familiar story of lacking that decent striker who could put the ball away…

Wild was great but the drop off in the last couple of months was alarming that season and whilst we’ll never fully know all of the details, you have to say the team has gone backwards since.

The injury situation is a concern but given some of the players we signed and their records - Walker, Earing etc it’s hardly a surprise.

We had a brillant physio in Sean Riley he seemed to get players back from injury quickly.
I wonder who our physio is because a decent one is worth there weight

We haven't got a right back for a start ,we haven't got any defender's to cover so that would be hard ,we didn't recriut right that's why we're in the position we're in !

There’s a lot of simple little things that we could all point out that in theory should make us better, be interesting to see if McDonald changes formation altogether

On the whole, I think we have a squad to make a half decent team, the set up or management of the players for is what is wrong.
Let's see what happens at the weekend and if we dare change the set up and at least give it a go?
We do have wingers and it would be good to use them as that, yes we don't have a right back but I'm sure it's worth a try and see if we can make do?

As it stands, we have nothing to loose but everything to gain!

Agree 100%. Recruitment has been shambolic. No manager could be successful with the current squad.

Agree 100%. Recruitment has been shambolic. No manager could be successful with the current squad.

I second that. Our recruitment has been nothing short of appalling. Whether it’s signing players who are injury prone or do not fit their position they’re assigned to, we look lost. Not only that, but I believe most our current squad are restrictive in terms of what style of play and formation we can use. Even hoof ball is out of the equation as Hemmings, Gordon, Cameron and Walker cannot hold up a ball.

Clearly McDonald was brought in as a hedge/future caretaker manager (as was Rob Kelly but he left) when it was clear it wasn’t working with Whing.

The issues around the stadium aren’t going away; it’s true it’s not up to L2 standards and this needs addressing or at least starting the conversations around it.

We’ll never truly “feel” like we belong here until we have a stadium that befits league status.

Opening up old and difficult conversations around council ownership and sharing with Raiders need to be had - even if they’re subsequently ruled out.

Other clubs manage to raise the necessary eg Wukkie!
The town fund that’s being spend on a new market hall could have been allocated towards a stadium; but we didn’t pursue that option. I don’t know the ins and outs of the EFL grant funding etc and I’m not privy to any inside information but other clubs have managed it.

Is it time to bite the bullet and have the conversation?


If they owners feel their’s a general consensus around this subject then they could look into it but while it remains controversial they probably won’t bother.

If the stadium was not up to league 2 standards then they would not allow us to be in this league.!We have been given time to improve things which we have.yes room for improvement in time when finance permits stop knocking it.As for those who call for Steve Evan’s do we really want another crook Vaughn was enough surely.
